November 22 Global Change Working Group Meeting
Briefing Paper for Dr. Allan Bromley
I.
President's International Environmental Conference
A. Note that all invited to arrive early to review paper;
for those who were unable to do so, will walk through paper.
B. Paper represents work done earlier this year, including
paper prepared in June on which all agencies with direct
interest consulted, and new options formulated over past few
months.
C. Consideration of President's conference should take
into account other international environmental conferences
and meetings; distribute list submitted by State Department
(request has been made for State to come to meeting with
list; if no list available, drop this point). Exact timing
of conference will be set later, not item for decision at
this meeting.
D. Presentation of all options, with pros and cons (10
minutes).
E.
Open floor for discussion
F. After discussion, see if consensus to delete any of the
options can be reached.
G. See if consensus on one or two of the options for
presentation to DPC can be reached.
H. Paper will be revised to reflect discussion at this
meeting and presented to a DPC meeting with the President
tentatively scheduled for December 15.
II. Requests for Greenhouse Gas Inventory Items
A. Follow up on request made in last meeting to have all
agencies submit listing of all activities underway with
respect to greenhouse gases (research, assessments of
economic costs, etc.).
