Title: OUTREACH
PROPOSED VIDEO MESSAGE
PROJECT OUTREACH
Crack. Dope. Heroin. Cocaine. Words that we hear all too
often on the streets and in the classrooms of today. Words made
more painful by the knowledge that right now -- somewhere in
America -- someone is being targeted by a drug dealer. It could
be happening at a school, a playground, or an office. It could
be happening anywhere because in this country we have a drug
problem that's threatening the well-being of America. We're in a
fight for the future of this nation and if we're going to win --
we need your help.
As always, the brave men and women of our law enforcement
agencies are doing a tremendous job in this struggle. But, it's
time for all of us to work together. That's why Project Outreach
is so critical.
Project Outreach is designed to reduce the demand for
illegal drugs by uniting all of us -- concerned citizens and law
enforcement personnel -- in a partnership to inform individuals
about drug abuse so we can put a stop to drug abuse now.
Project Outreach is part of the new spirit of cooperation
sweeping America. We must spread the word that each and every
American is responsible for stopping drug abuse. No longer is it
someone else's problem -- it's everyone's problem. And, with
Project Outreach we have a better chance of winning this war. If
we're ever going to "stop this scourge" it's going to take
2
nothing less than a total commitment. Let us all join together
and meet this challenge -- as Americans, as partners to end this
siege and win the war on drugs.
Thank you, and God bless you all.

PROPOSED VIDEO MESSAGE
THE LUTHERAN CHURCH -- MISSOURI SYNOD
Good evening. It's a pleasure to join you for the 57th
regular convention of The Lutheran Church -- Missouri Synod
(SIN UD).
This year, as your Church body celebrates 150 years of
service in America, it's important to think back on those who
braved a long ocean crossing to bring your church to the New
World. As with many religious groups, your forebears immigrated
for the sake of a simple freedom -- the right to worship freely
and openly. Beginning as a few scattered frontier congregations,
the Missouri Synod grew with the country to 2.6 million members
in over 6,000 congregations across the United States.
Today, the Lutheran Church -- Missouri Synod continues its
pioneering efforts to help others in so many ways -- feeding the
hungry, sheltering the homeless and fighting illiteracy.
I am especially pleased to commend you for the large system
of day schools which you have so generously supported. These
schools afford young people of every race and circumstance an
opportunity to pursue an education in a Christian context.
commitment
Without your many young people would not be able to receive such
a sound education.
Your spirit of volunteerism is what lies at the heart of
your service to country. You know that America's bedrock values
are sound and that our government serves best when it helps
2
people to serve those in need. That is why we must encourage the
creativity and selflessness that are the hallmark of the American
volunteer spirit. It is a spirit which, with God's help, we may
yet share with striving millions throughout the world. You in
the Lutheran Church -- Missouri Synod are contributing your part.

Title: ELKS
PROPOSED VIDEO MESSAGE
NATIONAL CONVENTION OF THE ELKS
Good evening. I'm pleased to bring greetings to all the
Elks and their families and to extend my best wishes for a
successful Grand Lodge convention.
As you probably know, New Orleans is a great place to hold a
convention. Barbara and I attended another national convention
there last summer, where I talked about a "thousand points of
light" brightening communities across this country. The Elks
knew exactly what I meant. You knew, because for over a century,
you've gone after the toughest community problems -- and solved
them.
Early on, the Elks knew the tragedy of cerebral palsy.
Working to ease the financial and emotional pain for parents, you
provided home therapy for stricken children. By easing the
burden of medical and other expenses on their families, you've
helped these youngsters reach their potential.
A few years ago, the Elks saw the toll drug abuse was taking
on our young people. Now, you have over 2,000 drug education and
rehabilitation programs under way. Not only do the Elks help
support drug treatment centers for those already in trouble, but
your public awareness campaigns help educate both parents and
children about the dangers of drug abuse.
And right now, young people are enjoying the fresh air and
open spaces of Camp Moore in New Jersey and other camps around
2
the country. Under the guidance of Elks caring volunteers, the
experience these kids are getting is making a big difference in
their young lives.
Elks have always been points of light in their communities
helping veterans, the homeless, backing up fire fighters and law
enforcement officers. . . the list goes on.
What I like about your good work is its diversity. Each
and your
lodge determines what needs to be done in its community
They
the members set about doing it. It's the American way.
Thank you for a job well done. Have a great convention, and
God bless you all.

PROPOSED VIDEO MESSAGE
MORMAN TABERNACLE CHOIR
Good morning.
It's an honor to join this inspiring celebration -- sixty
years of continuous broadcasts by the Morman Tabernacle Choir.
For six decades, the Choir has been heard across the country and
around the world -- opening hearts, uplifting souls, and
brightening lives.
While the Oak Ridge Boys or Kenny Rogers may be day-to-day
favorites of mine -- it's the Choir that marks a special day.
Earlier this year, the Inaugural celebration was made even more
memorable and enjoyable by your beautiful voices.
Henry David Thoreau wrote: "When I hear music, I fear no
danger.
.I am related to the earliest times, and to the
latest." The Mormon Tabernacle Choir is a living symbol of those
beautiful words. From the days of the Salt Lake pioneers who
walked miles to hear your soaring voices to today's generations
who listen to your broadcasts every week, millions have been
inspired by the joy of your glorious music. You are one of
America's greatest treasures.
Once again, congratulations on your remarkable contribution
to the cultural heritage of this nation, and God bless you all.

NATIONAL HORSEHOE PITCHING er's ASSOCIATION Tron
Good afternoon. It's a pleasure to join you for this year's
N-H-P-A World Tournament in Spearfish, South Dakota. I can
almost hear the clang of those horseshoes hitting the stakes from
back here in Washington. It's tempting me to join you, but this
government desk job is keeping me pretty busy.
It's often said that the hours spent fishing should not be
deducted from one's time here on earth. Well, if you ask me, the
same should be true about time spent in the pit. Some of my best
hours have been spent pitching horseshoes with family and
friends.
But, I'm just one of over 30 million Americans who have
discovered the pleasure of pitching horseshoes. And, you're the
ones who have made it to the top. So here's a bit of advice from
an amateur: may your worst shots be leaners, may your best shots
be ringers, and may the best player win.
Congratulations to you all, and best of luck.

PROPOSED VIDEO MESSAGE
NATIONAL RIGHT TO LIFE CONVENTION
Dr. Willke (WILL KEY), officers and members of this
convention, it's a great pleasure to join you today.
As this year's convention theme suggests, those of you in
the pro-life movement have successfully challenged the conscience
of our great nation. You have sparked debate, reflection, and
change -- change toward a restored respect for human life.
Earlier this year, under my direction, the Justice
Department urged the United States Supreme Court to re-examine
and overturn the Roe versus Wade ruling. We all know what the
consequences of the 1973 ruling were for America. While the
Court has yet to decide, I hope the Justices will give the
democratic representatives of the people -- the state
legislatures and the Congress -- the power to restore legal
protection to the unborn.
Our love of human life knows no bounds or borders. And that
is why I have reaffirmed the Mexico City Policy, which denies

less developed countries. I was encouraged to see that this
focused world attention on this practice.
Policy has led to a near halt in the liberalization of abortion
laws in the Third World.
1
2
Our belief in the value of human life will not be swayed.
Our determination to protect that life will remain undaunted. We
must, and will, defend those who cannot defend themselves.
This year, I again applaud your perseverance. Perseverance
for the sake of the millions of unborn children we lose each
year. And perseverance for the sake of the two million couples
who wait, with loving hearts, for children to adopt.
For the sake of those unborn, for the sake of our way of
life, we must go on. We may not prevail today or tomorrow. But
make no mistake -- we will prevail.
Thank you, and God bless you all.

MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL - ALS ADDRESS
Good afternoon. It's great to be with you at Yankee
Stadium. I wish I could be on hand to cheer two of the best
teams in America -- the Yankees (PAUSE) and the Tigers.
Today, in the house that Ruth built, we pause to salute
another great Yankee -- Lou Gehrig. Lou was one of my childhood
heroes and one of the greatest baseball players in history. For
those of us who remember Lou's grace and ability it's hard to
understand how a disease could take him away so quickly. Yet,
despite the cruel hand that was dealt him, he considered himself
the "luckiest man on earth". It's been 50 years -- to the day --
that Lou bid his teammates and his fans farewell, and in that
time we still haven't been able to find a cure for A-L-S. Sure,
we've made great strides, but more must be done to fight this
terrible disease.
So, today, let's remember the man Connie Mack called "the

stands only for courage, simple elegance, and one of the greatest
figures baseball will ever know.

Title: OUTREACH
PROPOSED VIDEO MESSAGE
PROJECT OUTREACH
Crack. Dope. Heroin. Cocaine. Words that we hear all too
often on the streets and in the classrooms of today. Words made
more painful by the knowledge that right now -- somewhere in
America -- someone is being targeted by a drug dealer. It
could be happening at a school, a playground, or an office. It
could be happening anywhere because in this country we have a
drug problem that's threatening the well-being of America. We're
in a fight for the future of this nation and if we're going to
win -- we need your help.
As always, the brave men and women of our law enforcement
agencies are doing a tremendous job in this struggle. But, the
problem is growing too fast. The consequences are too important.
It's time for all of us to work together. That's why Project
Outreach is so critical.
If
2
we're ever going to "stop this scourge" it's going to take
nothing less than a full commitment by all of us. Let us all
join together and meet this challenge -- as Americans, as
partners to end this siege and win the war on drugs.

These
many
schools afford young people OT every race and circumstance an
n
opportunity to pursue an education in a Christian context.
Without your many young people would not be able to receive such
a sound education
Your spirit of volunteerism service is what lies at the heart of
your service to country.
Thank you for the difference you make. And God bless you
all.

Elks have always been points of light in their communities
helping veterans, the homeless, backing up fire fighters and law
enforcement officers.
the list goes on.
What I like about your good work is its diversity. Each
lodge determines what needs to be done in its community. They
the members set about doing it. It's the American way.
Thank you for a job well done. Have a great convention, and
God bless you all.

NATIONAL HORSEHOE PITCHING ASSOCIATION
Good afternoon. It's a pleasure to join you for this year's
N-H-P-A World Tournament in Spearfish, South Dakota. I can

back here in Washington.

U.S. funds to organizations that campaign to legalize abortion in
less developed countries. I was encouraged to see that this
Policy has led to a near halt in the liberalization of abortion
laws in the Third World.

Stadium. I wish I could be on hand to cheer two of the best
teams in America -- the Yankees (PAUSE) and the Indians.
So, today, let's remember the man Connie Mack called "the
Crown Prince" as we move toward the day when Lou Gehrig's name
stands only for courage, simple elegance, and one of the greatest
figures baseball will ever know.
Thank you, happy 4th of July, and let's play ball!

PROPOSED VIDEO MESSAGE
NATIONAL HORSESHOE PITCHER'S ASSOCIATION

So, today, let's remember the man Connie Mack called "the
Crown Prince" as we move toward the day when Lou Gehrig's name
stands only for courage, simple elegance, and one of the greatest
figures baseball will ever know.
Thank you, happy 4th of July, and let's play ball!

Elks have always been points of light in their communities
helping veterans, the homeless, backing up fire fighters and law
enforcement officers.
the list goes on.
What I like about your good work is its diversity. Each
lodge determines what needs to be done in its community, and your
members set about doing it. It's the American way.
Thank you for a job well done. Have a great convention, and
God bless you all.

Title: Choir

Title: Right
PROPOSED VIDEO MESSAGE
U.S. funds to foreign organizations that perform or promote
abortion as a method of family planning. I am encouraged to see
that this Policy has focused world attention on this practice.

Title: LUTHERAN
PROPOSED VIDEO MESSAGE
THE LUTHERAN CHURCH -- MISSOURI SYNOD
Good evening. It's a pleasure to join you for the 57th
regular convention of The Lutheran Church -- Missouri Synod
(SIN UD).
This year, as your Church body celebrates 150 years of
service in America, it's important to think back on those who
braved a long ocean crossing to bring your church to the New
World. As with many religious groups, your forebears immigrated
for the sake of a simple freedom -- the right to worship freely
and openly. Beginning as a few scattered frontier congregations,
the Missouri Synod has grown to 2.6 million members in over 6,000
congregations across the United States.
Today, the Lutheran Church -- Missouri Synod continues its
pioneering efforts to help others in so many ways -- feeding the
hungry, sheltering the homeless and fighting illiteracy.
I am especially pleased to commend you for the large system
of day schools which you have so generously supported. These
schools afford so many young people an opportunity to pursue an
education in a Christian context.
Your spirit of service lies at the heart of your service to
country. You know that America's bedrock values are sound and
that our government serves best when it helps people to serve
those in need. That is why we must encourage the creativity and
selflessness that are the hallmark of the American volunteer
2
spirit. It is a spirit which, with God's help, we may yet share
with striving millions throughout the world. You in the Lutheran
Church -- Missouri Synod are contributing your part.
Thank you for making a difference in so many lives. And God
bless you all.
