ENVIRONMENTAL DEFENSE FUND DINNER
GOOD EVENING. IT'S A PLEASURE TO JOIN YOU IN NEW
YORK FOR THIS IMPORTANT DINNER HOSTED BY THE
ENVIRONMENTAL DEFENSE FUND.
I PARTICULARLY LIKE THE "INVEST IN OUR WORLD" THEME EDF
CHOSE FOR TONIGHT'S AFFAIR.
AS MANY OF YOU KNOW, ONE OF THE MAJOR GOALS OF THE
BUSH ADMINISTRATION IS TO FOSTER, PROTECT, AND IMPROVE
THE QUALITY OF THE ENVIRONMENT. IT'S SOMETHING I'M
DETERMINED TO ACHIEVE -- BUT I NEED YOUR HELP. WHILE
THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT CAN, AND WILL, SET STRONG
ENVIRONMENTAL PERFORMANCE STANDARDS, AMERICA NEEDS YOUR
UNIQUE PROBLEM-SOLVING TALENTS -- AND YOUR LEADERSHIP -
- TO HELP PROTECT THE ENVIRONMENT WHILE ALSO PROTECTING
THE ECONOMY. A SOUND ECOLOGY AND STRONG ECONOMY ARE
NOT MUTUALLY EXCLUSIVE - THEY GO HAND-IN-HAND.
I WOULD LIKE THE 1990S TO BE A DECADE WHEN
GOVERNMENT, BUSINESS LEADERS AND SUCH NOTABLE GROUPS AS
THE ENVIRONMENTAL DEFENSE FUND WORK TOGETHER TO ADDRESS
THE DIFFICULT ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES FACING THIS NATION
AND THE WORLD.

WE CAN REVERSE THE ERRORS OF THIS GENERATION,
MINDFUL OF THE NEXT. ALL OF US HAVE BEEN GIVEN A
TRUST, A TRUST THAT LIES IN THE STEWARDSHIP OF OUR
PLANET. IN THIS, WE MUST NOT FAIL.
THANK YOU, ENJOY THIS IMPORTANT EVENING, AND GOD
BLESS YOU ALL.

COMBINED FEDERAL CAMPAIGN
GREETINGS TO MY COLLEAGUES IN GOVERNMENT. YOU
KNOW, I'VE OFTEN SAID THAT "FROM NOW ON IN AMERICA, ANY
DEFINITION OF A SUCCESSFUL LIFE MUST INCLUDE SERVICE TO
OTHERS". WELL, AS PUBLIC SERVANTS, YOU ALREADY GIVE
GENEROUSLY OF YOUR TIME AND TALENTS. BUT, THERE IS
ANOTHER GIFT YOU CAN OFFER -- A FINANCIAL GIFT TO THE
COMBINED FEDERAL CAMPAIGN. THROUGH A CFC PAYROLL
DEDUCTION, EACH OF US HAS THE OPPORTUNITY TO HELP
PEOPLE LESS FORTUNATE THAN OURSELVES, BOTH HERE IN
AMERICA AND OVERSEAS.
CFC IS THE LARGEST EMPLOYEE CHARITY DRIVE IN THE
WORLD, AND OFFERS ALL OF US THE CHANCE TO SUPPORT
AGENCIES THAT MEET A WIDE VARIETY OF NEEDS. LAST YEAR,
MORE THAN 2 MILLION FEDERAL PERSONNEL CONTRIBUTED OVER
170 MILLION DOLLARS THROUGH CFC. AND FOR ALL THOSE YOU
HELPED, LET ME OFFER HEARTFELT THANKS.
THANK YOU FOR ALL THE HARD WORK YOU DO FOR YOUR

PROPOSED VIDEO MESSAGE
ENVIRONMENTAL DEFENSE FUND DINNER
Good evening. It's a pleasure to join you in New York for
this important dinner hosted by the Environmental Defense Fund.
I particularly like the "Invest in Our World" theme EDF chose for
tonight's affair.
As many of you know, one of the major goals of the Bush
Administration is to foster, protect, and improve the quality of
the environment. It's something I'm determined to achieve -- but
I need your help. While the federal government can, and will,
set strong environmental performance standards, America needs
your unique problem-solving talents -- and your leadership -- to
help protect the environment while also protecting the economy.
And while some say that sound ecology and a strong economy are
mutually exclusive -- I say they must go hand-in-hand.
We can mark the 1990s as the decade when business leaders
worked in earnest with such notable groups as the Environmental
Defense Fund.
We can reverse the errors of this generation, mindful of the
next. All of us have been given a trust, a trust that lies in
the stewardship of our planet. In this, we must not fail.
Thank you, enjoy this important evening, and God bless you
all.

FAMILY RESEARCH COUNCIL
Good evening. It's a great pleasure to join you for
tonight's special dinner. I'm sure there are many in tonight's
audience that I count as friends, but let me offer a special
hello to the recipients of the Marian Pfister (FISTER) Anschutz
(ANSHOOTS) Awards.
We salute your efforts to call our nation back to its roots
and to recognize our most prized treasure -- the family. Strong,
healthy families are the central foundation of our democratic
society.
So, tonight, we honor three individuals whose efforts
distinguish them as strong advocates for the family; Kimi Grey,
Tony Evans, and William Raspberry. Their example is a bright
inspiration -- not only to all of us here tonight -- but to this
country.
With our eyes on the future, our faith in God, and our
hearts turned toward home, we will call every American back to
the family.
Have a wonderful evening, and God bless you.

Greetings to my colleagues in government. You know, I've
often said that "from now on in America, any definition of a
successful life must include service to others". Well, as public
servants, you already give generously of your time and talents.
But, there is another gift you have to offer -- a financial
contribution to the Combined Federal Campaign. Through a CFC
payroll deduction, each of us has the opportunity to help people
less fortunate than ourselves, both here in America and overseas.
CFC is the largest employee charity drive in the world, and
offers all of us the chance to support agencies that meet a wide
variety of needs. Last year, more than 2 million federal
personnel contributed over 170 million dollars through CFC. And
for all those you helped, let me offer a heartfelt thanks.
Thank you for all the hard work you give your country. God
bless you and God bless the United States of America.

While the federal government can, and will,
set strong environmental performance standards, America needs
your unique problem-solving talents -- and your leadership -- to
help protect the environment while also protecting the economy.
sound ecology and a strong economy are

go hand-in-hand.
Thank you, enjoy this important evening, and God bless you
all.

PROPOSED VIDEO MESSAGE
FAMILY RESEARCH COUNCIL
Good evening. It's a great pleasure to join you for
tonight's special dinner. I'm sure there are many in tonight's
audience that I count as friends, but let me offer a special
hello to the recipients of the Marian Pfister (FISTER) Anschutz
(ANSHOOTS) Awards.
antion

Title: CFC
PROPOSED VIDEO MESSAGE
COMBINED FEDERAL CAMPAIGN
Greetings to my colleagues in government. You know, I've
often said that from now on in America, any definition of a
successful life must include service to others".
God
bless you and God bless the United States of America

Everyday in America there are new ways for you to lend
a
helping hand. Today a lot of children must spend time at home
alone. Whether they're troubled, lonely, contless or need help -- most of
all, they need someone to talk to
,
In this community every child has a friend just a phone call
away because people just like you give their time to volunteer.

GROUP W "TIME TO CARE" CAMPAIGN #2
You may think you need a lot of time to be a volunteer, but
look at how some very busy people make room in their lives
people like Carlton Stockton, a company vice president. Through
Mentors, Inc., he is helping Richard Green reach his dream of
going to college, showing him what it takes to be successful in
the business world.
Finding time to help others is important for the future of
America. Won't you find the time to care?

Title: CARE #3
PROPOSED VIDEO MESSAGE
GROUP W "TIME TO CARE" CAMPAIGN #3
If you're asking what you can do to make a difference, I ask
you to look to our nation's young volunteers for inspiration.
These teenagers have learned to care for children with
that
disabilities. On Saturday Vs, they give their time SO parents can
have a much-needed break.
I'm delighted to see our country's young people giving of
themselves, sharing their vitality, and setting an example for us
all. Won't you find the time to care?
