This is one of those special evenings in Washington where we pay tribute to "one of our own." Bryce EXCE Harlow represents the finest example around of a public and a private man. Tonight he is honored by a grateful family, COLLEAGUES Ano grateful company grate friends and just one of the grateful Presidents who has known him. STET You always hear how a President has a hard time finding someone who will TAKE provide the unvarnished truth while sitting TO in the Oval Office. Well, that observation is as accurate as what past President's have said about Bryce Harlow's capacity to "see it like it is" and "tell it like it is." He was one of those people that this town never has enough of. He was thoughtful and gentle - I know, you thought I was going to say, "kinder and gentler He was that, but he was also tough and firm and resolved and stood up for what was right and necessary when it came to what his President and his country needed to do. I will always remember my favorite encounter with Bryce [someone will have to ask the President or ad lib]. I am grateful to all of you who have chosen to support the Bryce Harlow Foundation.
