I. SUMMARY
Atlanta, GA has been chosen as the United States' candidate
city for the site of the 1996 Summer Olympics. Your message
will be incorporated into the Atlanta Organizing Committee's
presentation to the 90 member International Olympic
Committee.
II. DISCUSSION
The Atlanta Organizing Committee is travelling to Tokyo and
will submit that city as a possible site for the 1996 Summer
Olympics. Several countries will be presenting competing
cities for the honor of hosting these games. Your video
message will be part of the Atlanta presentation.

U. S. OLYMPIC COMMITTEE
President Samaranch ( SAAM-a-RONCH ), distinguished Members
of the International Olympic Committee, it's wonderful to cross
the Pacific and join you in Tokyo for this important discussion.
In the United States we know that the Olympic ideal has
become the world's dream. The simple fact that so many cities
the world over are competing for this great celebration of sport
in 1996 is a great tribute to your work. Each of you make the
Olympic Movement a brilliant beacon to the future for the youth
in every country.
The Olympic Games surely belong to all the people of the
world and as the guardian of the Olympic Flame, you are faced
with a very difficult and historic decision.
I can only emphasize that the United States wants to be a
bright light for the future of the Olympic Movement and we
proudly submit Atlanta, Georgia, as our "candidate city" for the
26th Olympiad. Atlanta is a city infused with a love of sport,
alive with the fundamental principles of peace and friendship
that make up this Olympic ideal. And I'm certain that the
entire Olympic Family will be welcomed with open arms and true
affection for the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games.
