It's great to be a part of your 49th annual Wings Club Dinner. Every pilot in this room knows the exhilaration of defying gravity -- racing the wind -- bringing life to a machine that becomes an extension of your self. And When you do this in honor of to protect freedom and in dependence your countryS-- there is no prouder moment. The aviators -- from all branches of the military, and the reservists -- called to duty in Operation Desert Storm, who are here tonight know this. And it is a fitting tribute that you dedicate this patriotic celebration to all the brave American servicemen and women who participated in Operation Desert Storm. Our troops accomplished their mission -- the liberation of Kuwait -- swiftly, decisively with great skill and exemplary compassion in their humane treatment of surrendering Iraqi forces. Today, many of our military personnel continue serving in the Persian Gulf -- assisting with refugee relief efforts and remaining vigilant, to peace I As Commander in Chief, I am extremely proud of our troops. They are the envy of the world. And I am delighted to accept your Distinguished Achievement Award on their behalf. It is a great honor to join the ranks of previous recipients, such as the great Jimmy Doolittle, Neil Armstorng, and my good friend, Barry Goldwater. Again, I give my thanks for this honor. God Bless you and God Bless the United States of America. # # # Document No. 278198ss WHITE HOUSE STAFFING MEMORANDUM 91 OCT 18 P4: 40 DATE: 10/17/91 ACTION/CONCURRENCE/COMMENT DUE BY: FRIDAY, 10/18/91 11:00am PRESIDENTIAL VIDEO MESSAGE: 49th ANNUAL WINGS CLUB DINNER SUBJECT: ACTION FYI ACTION FYI VICE PRESIDENT HORNER SUNUNU MCCLURE > SCOWCROFT \ PETERSMEYER DARMAN PORTER > BRADY ROGICH > BROMLEY SMITH > CARD > MCBRIDE DEMAREST \ SNOW FITZWATER GRAY \ HOLIDAY > REMARKS: Please forward your comments directly to Tony Snow, Rm. 122, x2930, no later than 11:00 a.m., FRIDAY, OCTOBER 18, with a copy to this office.
