PRESIDENTIAL VIDEO: NATIONAL RIGHT TO LIFE CONVENTION
I'm proud to salute all of you fine men and women who are
our frontline soldiers in this battle for America's soul. For
those who are vulnerable -- you are their strength. For those
who are silent -- you are their voice. For those who are
imperiled -- you are their hope.
I join you in your reverence for life -- and for the human
heart, the universal symbol of life itself, which starts beating
only three weeks after conception. I believe in the sanctity of
new life -- and I will always stand on the side of choosing life.
I support reversal of Roe V. Wade -- and my Administration
has taken our arguments to the Supreme Court. I support a Human
Life Amendment to protect unborn children. I have consistently
opposed attempts to provide federal funding of abortion, except
where the mother's life is in danger. I will veto a current
proposal which would fund research using aborted fetuses. And if
Congress passes the so-called "Freedom of Choice Act," I will
veto it -- as I have stated before, it will not become law as
long as I am President.
A people -- a nation -- a world is measured not by the power
of its greatest, but of its compassion for its weakest. That's
why the most important passion Americans must have is not for
position or success or material goods. No, our guiding principle
must be to live our lives by an inner moral compass based on
respect for the dignity and right to life of each of our brothers
and sisters.
The greatest responsibility of a humane society is to care
for its most defenseless members. Let us continue to work
together -- let us pledge our fervor, our intensity and our
prayers -- to make sure that future generations know us by our
legacy of fierce devotion to "Life: The First Right. "
God bless you and everything you do.

PRESIDENTIAL VIDEO:
NATIONAL EXPORT INITIATIVE
It's a pleasure to greet the many participants in our
National Export Initiative conference. Your program title says
it all: "Exports -- Generating Jobs for Americans." We're at
the dawn of a new era in the world economy -- presenting exciting
opportunities for American business.
Now more than ever, if we want to thrive at home, we have to
compete and lead abroad. Increasing exports is one of the
pillars on which we're building our economic future. Remember,
every billion dollars of U.S. merchandise exports supports on
average about 20,000 good jobs for Americans. Exports remain one
of the strongest forces fueling our economy: Last year, U.S.
exports soared to a record high of $422 billion while our trade
deficit fell to its lowest level in almost a decade.
Our Administration is working hard to open up markets and
help American firms compete abroad. Two years ago, for instance,
we created the Trade Promotion Coordinating Committee, bringing
together all the expertise of the federal government in a "one-
stop shop" for firms interested in exports. NEI conferences such
as this have helped hundreds of companies of all sizes get a
handle on new export opportunities. And I have my trade
negotiators working around the clock to conclude two historic
trade agreements -- the North American Free Trade Agreement
linking the United States, Mexico and Canada; and a new GATT
agreement to eliminate barriers to global trade.
2
Trade is one of the most important issues of our time --
clearly for exporters such as yourselves, but no less vital to
consumers the world over who want a better quality of life.
That's why I am fighting to open markets. Free trade means more
exports, more investment, more choices, and more jobs for
Americans. So I'm asking you to intensify your support as we
approach the end game in the GATT and the North American Free
Trade talks. We need trade policies to keep growth up now and in
the future. With these, and with your proven ingenuity, we'll
keep America the leader that she is -- the number one exporter in
the world. Thank you, and may God bless every one of you.

PRESIDENTIAL VIDEO:
ROTARY INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION
I'm delighted to greet the thousands of women and men of
Rotary International. It's a pleasure to welcome to the United
States so many Rotarians visiting from other nations. The
Rotarian credo -- Service above Self -- exemplifies the volunteer
spirit that gives strength to free societies everywhere. This
year we mark the continued growth of Rotary, and it is a special
joy to note that Rotary is gaining new members and organizing new
clubs in the newly liberated countries of Eastern Europe.
Let me assure you, I'll keep working to extend this
progress. The new world we want to build is one where no
government will attempt to deny such fundamental rights as the
freedom for voluntary associations to meet and organize. People
will build better societies throughout the world when they're
burdened by less bureaucracy and government control -- and when
they're enlivened by more constructive action based on the spirit
of voluntary service. It should come as no surprise that
Rotarians figure prominently among the Daily Points of Light I
have recognized for selfless service to American communities.
Rotary International is a shining example to all the world
of the values that make life worth living -- family, community,
faith, and work. Please keep up your important work. During
this era of change, our nation and our world need the spirit and
the efforts of Rotarians more than ever. Thank you, and may God
bless every one of you.

PRESIDENTIAL VIDEO: ONE TO ONE AWARDS BANQUET
I am honored to say a few words to all of you gathered
together this evening to celebrate both the mission of One to One
and the many individuals who, in their own ways, are changing the
lives of a number of young Americans through mentoring.
At a time when it seems everyone is talking about America's
problems, One to One is about a solution. Since its inception,
One to One has been moving down a singular and affirmative path,
helping to put and keep young people on the right track. You are
successfully mobilizing mentors. You are also creating real
economic opportunities for kids. As a result, when the next
generation takes over leading this great country, these young
people will be among those who help America to become an even
better and more productive place.
Every one of you who is a mentor is one of those Points of
Light about which I often speak. And with so many of you
gathered in one place this evening, the room must be filled with
wonderful light. Barbara joins me in wishing you the very best.
From the White House, and on behalf of all Americans, I send you
a heartfelt thank you. May God bless you all.

CARDINALS
PRESIDENTIAL REMARKS: CARDINALS VIDEO
100TH ANNIVERSARY
The St. Louis Cardinals were once baseball's southern- and
western-most team. Today, they are still America's Team -- with
some of baseball's greatest fans and most glorious traditions. /
Think of it: Fifteen pennants / nine world championships /
and all those outstanding Hall of Famers and All-Stars who've
worn the Redbird uniform. /
Legends like "Country" Slaughter, Bob Gibson, Lou Brock, and
Orlando Cepeda. / Household words like "Red" Schoendienst [SHANE
deenst], Bill White -- and of course, "The Man" himself, Stan
Musial. / Not to mention the immortal Dizzy Dean -- who often
said, "It ain't braggin' if you can back it up." //
For years, Cardinal players have "backed it up." And so
have people off-the-field who've helped build the Cardinal
tradition -- legendary names like Branch Rickey and August Busch
-- plus those millions of fans who've made the Cardinals a
Midwest institution. /
To all the players, members of the Cardinals organization,
and fans gathered tonight in Busch Stadium -- to all those who've
rooted for the Gas House Gang of the thirties, and the
championship teams of the forties, sixties, and eighties -- right
down to the "Cardiac Cards" of 1992 -- my best wishes on this
100th anniversary. //
2
It's a special night -- looking back on a great tradition.
And yet -- ask any Cardinal fan: As good as the past 100 years
have been, the best is yet to come. / God bless you, and the
United States of America.

Gathering of Eagles
Distinguished Aviation Greats, Air Command, and Staff
College Class of '92, and Ladies and Gentlemen, good evening. I
wish I could be there in person tonight to help commemorate the
critical and exciting role of aviation in our nation's history.
I consider it a great honor to be selected as an Eagle and to be
associated with such illustrious aviation pioneers and leaders
from around the world. As a young avenger pilot in World War II,
I would have never dreamed I'd someday join a list of aviation
greats like Jimmy Doolittle, Curtis Lemay, Matthew Ridgeway, and
Frank Borman. Thank you so very much.
I am sure it has been an inspirational week for the Class of
'92 -- a week of "living history". This gathering of Eagles is
an excellent way for those who have met the challenges of the
past and shaped today's world to share their experiences and
prepare you for the challenges of the future. For more than a
decade, some 170 eagles from fifteen countries have passed on to
students here at Maxwell, invaluable lessons learned in times of
war and in times of peace -- from helping to design forces to
being at the very tip of the arrow in combat. Their knowledge,
their insights and their inspiration form a "living history" you
cannot find in the pages of any book.
In the course of their week with you, these aviators, some
of whom were on opposing sides, forge new and lasting bonds of
friendship. To those of you about to graduate, as your year of
study at A-S-C draws to a close, I hope that you, like the
Eagles, have made similar bonds that can sustain and enrich your
career. For as any Veteran knows, friends made in the military
are friends for life.
As we saw again in Desert Storm, the security and freedom of
our nation and our allies ultimately will depend on your skill,
your courage, and leadership. I am confident that you will
continue to display the integrity, enthusiasm and dedication
needed to carry on the legacy of service and sacrifice that the
Eagles have left you. III Thank you again for the honor, aim
high, good luck, -- and may God bless the United States of
America.

problems, One to One is about a solution.

PRESIDENTIAL REMARKS: CARDINALS VIDEO
100TH ANNIVERSARY
The St. Louis Cardinals were once baseball's southern- and
western-most team. Today, they are still America's Team -- with
some of baseball's greatest fans and most glorious traditions. /
Think of it: Fifteen pennants / nine world championships /
and all those outstanding Hall of Famers and All-Stars who've
worn the Redbird uniform. /
Legends like "Country" Slaughter, Bob Gibson, Lou Brock, and
Orlando Cepeda. / Household words like "Red" Schoendienst [SHANE
deenst], Bill White -- and of course, "The Man" himself, Stan
Musial. / Not to mention the immortal Dizzy Dean -- who often
said, "It ain't braggin' if you can back it up.' //
For years, Cardinal players have "backed it up." And so
have people off-the-field who've helped build the Cardinal
tradition -- legendary names like Branch Rickey and August Busch

III Thank you again for the honor, aim
high, good luck, -- and may God bless the United States of
America.

I'm proud to salute all of you fine, brave men and women who

PRESIDENTIAL VIDEO:
NATIONAL EXPORT INITIATIVE
It's a pleasure to greet the many participants in our
National Export Initiative conference. Your program title says
it all: "Exports -- Generating Jobs for Americans." We're at
the dawn of a new era in the world economy -- presenting exciting
opportunities for American business. The Free World has
triumphed over Communism, and nations in every corner of the
globe are turning anew to free markets.
Now more than ever, if we want to thrive at home, we have to
compete and lead abroad. Our prosperity hinges on our ability to
develop quality products, identify new markets, and go the extra
mile to make sales around the world. Exports create good jobs
for Americans, and robust trade improves our standard of living.
Every billion dollars of U.S. manufactured exports creates more
than 20,000 American jobs. And exports continue as one of the
strongest forces fueling our economy today: Last year, U.S.
exports soared to a record high of $422 billion while our trade
deficit declined to its lowest level in almost a decade.
Our Administration is working hard to open up markets and
help American firms compete abroad. Two years ago, for instance,
we created the Trade Promotion Coordinating Committee, bringing
together all the expertise of the federal government in a "one-
stop shop" for firms interested in exports. And I have my trade
negotiators working around the clock to conclude two historic
trade agreements -- the North American Free Trade Agreement
2
linking the United States, Mexico and Canada; and a new global
GATT agreement to curb wasteful agricultural subsidies.
Trade is one of the most important issues of our time --
clearly for exporters such as yourselves, but no less vital to
consumers the world over who want a better quality of life.
That's why I am fighting to open markets. Free trade means more
exports, more investment, more choices, and more jobs for
Americans. So I'm asking you to intensify your support as we
approach the end game in the North American Free Trade talks and
the GATT talks. We need trade policies to keep growth up now and
in the future. With these, and with your proven ingenuity, we'll
keep America the leader that she is -- the number one exporter in
the world. Thank you, and may God bless every one of you.

I am honored to say a few words to all of you gathered
together this evening to celebrate both the mission of One to One
and the many individuals who, in their own ways, are changing the
lives of a number of young Americans through mentoring.
Mentoring isn't just quizzing kids before a spelling test,
or helping with multiplication tables. It's much more than that.
Mentors provide leadership, emotional support, and friendship.
At a time when it seems everyone is talking about America's
problems, it is inspiring to see a group of fine volunteers, like
the mentors of One to One, who are offering solutions.
Since its inception, One to One has been moving down a
singular and affirmative path, successfully helping get kids
who've gotten into trouble get back on track. You have a lot to
be proud of, because when the next generation takes over leading
this great country, they will remember your kind words and the
kind hand that was offered when they needed help. In turn, they
will be among those who help America to become a more caring and

A tremendous export potential exists in America today--and
much of it lies with small to medium-sized companies. The
overlooked fact is that, while the United States is the world's
largest exporter, just 15 percent of our exporters account for over
60 percent of the value of goods shipped across our borders.
There are many good reasons why U.S. firms should look to
overseas markets:
o
The world market is more than four times larger than the
U.S. market
O
Many overseas markets are growing at a faster rate than
the U.S. market
o
Exporting can help companies discover new ideas that can
lead to new products, applications, or markets.
INSERT B
I encourage both the new-to-export company and the seasoned
exporter to use the valuable information and services provided here
today to aggressively pursue overseas markets.

In turn, they
will be among those who help America to become a more caring and
productive place.
All my life, I have believed that education opens the door
to opportunity in America. And when the door of opportunity is
flung wide open, so much good can happen. Barbara joins me in
wishing you the very best. From the White House, and on behalf
of all Americans, I send you a heartfelt thank you. May God
bless you all.

ENRICH YOUR CAREER. FOR AS ANY VETERAN KNOWS,
FRIENDS MADE IN THE MILITARY ARE FRIENDS FOR LIFE.
AS WE SAW AGAIN IN DESERT STORM, THE SECURITY
AND FREEDOM OF OUR NATION AND OUR ALLIES ULTIMATELY
WILL DEPEND ON YOUR SKILL, YOUR COURAGE, AND
3
LEADERSHIP. I AM CONFIDENT THAT YOU WILL CONTINUE
TO DISPLAY THE INTEGRITY, ENTHUSIASM AND DEDICATION
NEEDED TO CARRY ON THE LEGACY OF SERVICE AND
SACRIFICE THAT THE EAGLES HAVE LEFT YOU. 111 THANK
YOU AGAIN FOR THE HONOR, AIM HIGH, GOOD LUCK, -- AND
MAY GOD BLESS THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

LIFE Draft One
PRESIDENTIAL VIDEO: NATIONAL RIGHT TO LIFE CONVENTION
I'm proud to salute all of you fine, brave men and women who
are our frontline soldiers in this battle for America's soul.
For those who are vulnerable -- you are their strength. For
those who are silent -- you are their voice. For those who are
imperiled -- you are their hope.
I join you in your reverence for life --- and for the human
heart, the universal symbol of life itself, which starts beating
only three weeks after conception. I believe in the meaning of
that beating heart -- in the sanctity of that new life -- and I
will always stand on the side of choosing life.
I support reversal of Roe v. Wade. I support a Human Life
Amendment to protect unborn children. I oppose federal funding
of abortion, except where the mother's life is in danger. I will
veto the bill for experiments on aborted fetuses. And if
Congress passes the so-called "Freedom of Choice Act, " I will
veto it once -- I will veto it again -- and it will not become
law as long as I am President of the United States of America.
A people -- a nation -- a world is measured not by the power
of its greatest, but by its compassion for its weakest. That's
why the most important drive Americans must have is not for
position or success or material goods. No, our guiding principle
must be to live our lives by an inner moral compass based on
respect for the dignity and right to life of each of our brothers
and sisters -- no matter how medically dependent -- no matter how
2
disabled -- no matter how elderly -- no matter how unformed -- no
matter what stage they're at in the miracle of life.
The greatest responsibility of a humane society is to care
for its most defenseless members. Let us continue to work
together -- let us pledge our fervor, our intensity and our
prayers -- to make sure that future generations know us by our
legacy of fierce devotion to "Life: The First Right."
God bless you and everything you do.

Export
PRESIDENTIAL VIDEO: NATIONAL EXPORT INITIATIVE

Rotary

In turn, they
will be among those who help America to become a more caring and
productive place.
All my life, I have believed that education opens the door
to opportunity in America. And when the door of opportunity is
flung wide open, so much good can happen. Barbara joins me in
wishing you the very best. From the White House, and on behalf
of all Americans, I send you a heartfelt thank you. May God
bless you all.

CARDINALS
PRESIDENTIAL REMARKS: CARDINALS VIDEO
100TH ANNIVERSARY
The St. Louis Cardinals were once baseball's southern- and
western-most team. Today, they are still America's Team -- with
some of baseball's greatest fans and most glorious traditions. /
Think of it: Fifteen pennants / nine world championships /
and all those outstanding Hall of Famers and All-Stars who've
worn the Redbird uniform. /
Legends like "Country" Slaughter, Bob Gibson, Lou Brock, and
Orlando Cepeda. / Household words like "Red" Schoendienst [SHANE
deenst], Bill White -- and of course, "The Man" himself, Stan
Musial. / Not to mention the immortal Dizzy Dean -- who often
said, "It ain't braggin' if you can back it up." 11
For years, Cardinal players have "backed it up." And so
have people off-the-field who've helped build the Cardinal
tradition -- legendary names like Branch Rickey and August Busch
