Not
It's not only a great honor to have a Barbara Bush rose in
class
the same garden with the Bob Hope, Bing Crosby and Dorothy
Lamour roses
it's also appropriate. Given the polls, I'm
thinking about staying home myself and sending Barbara --
after
'on the road.'

Victory '92 Luncheon with the President
Home of Bob and Dolores Hope
Toluca Lake, California
Sunday, September 13, 1992
Notes for the President's remarks:
Thank you to: Bob & Dolores Hope for hosting.
Jim Dignan, California Republican Party
and Victory '92 Chairman. He has
put $1.4 million in reserve to
provide the President with a
Republican Congress.
Karl Samuelian, Victory '92 Finance Chairman.
He is responsible for today's
successful lunch.
Lod Cook, Chairman, October 8 Victory '92
Simulcast Gala. He also just
chaired the hugely successful
Houston Gala which raised $4.4
million dollars.
When presented with "Barbara Bush" roses by Mrs. Hope,
suggested remarks:
"The White House, as you know, has one rose garden. I'm
quite impressed that Bob and Dolores have two. Perhaps you
saw Bob's in front when you drove in. They tell me it's
called the "Road to the the Roses" because in it are only
the Bob Hope, Bing Crosby and Dorothy Lamour rose bushes."
"Now, Dolores' garden here in the back, though, I can tell
is even more special, because she is growing the Barbara
Bush rose. Dolores where's my rose?"

We kid Bob about his age, but I don't think he minds. In

O
It's not often I get a chance to thank everyone for what
they do for this campaign, for this Party. But I want to say,
here and now, thanks for all your time, all your effort, all your
support. We're going to win this race, not because I'm the
prettiest candidate -- we all know that -- but because we've got
the best people on the team. Thank you for this welcome and God
bless you all.

Thank you, Dolores. I know Barbara will be especially

me. After working with Congress, I've got enough thorns in my
side. //
