Dear Ms thant
IEA's Summer in Washington program has now begun. Our next
event will be an informal discussion and happy hour with two
mainland Chinese students, Xiaoxing Han and Shengpeng Feng, on
Monday, July 10. Mr. Xiaoxing is a doctoral candidate in
government, at Georgetown and the author of a number of op-ed
pieces in the Washington Post. Mr. Shengping is a doctoral
candidate in politics at Princeton and a leader of the Chinese
Alliance for Democracy. The event will be held in Rooms A, B and
C at the University Club (1135 16th St. NW) from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Refreshments will be served.
Later in the summer, we're planning a number of other events:
discussions with Health and Human Services undersecretary
Constance Horner on July 18 and Judge Robert Bork on July 25, and
on August 3 a roundtable with alumni of the student journalism
program who are now working professionally in D.C. We'll also be
hosting a softball game/barbeque on August 5. Please mark your
calendar now.
If you can attend the July 10th session, please R.S.V.P. as
soon as possible to Kim Bowling or myself at 833-1801. If you
know anyone else who might be interested in coming to these
events, let us know.
I look forward to seeing you this summer.
Sincerely,
g Jon Bacal
