Their hard work and undying commitment to this foundation have brought us together tonight. The Dole Foundation has raised $1 million a year for four years in a row, to go towards financial assistance to employment and training programs for people with disabilities. Your work is bringing more Americans back to work. -1- In fact, you have put more than 2,500 Americans with disabilities back on the job -- with self-respect, dignity and pride. I've said it before: the best program for disabled Americans is a job. I'd also like to congratulate Bill Marriott, winner of the Fourth Annual Leadership Award. I understand the Marriott Corporation employs over 6,000 people with disabilities, a world leader in this area. Congratulations, Bill, and thank you. For as long as I've known the Doles, they never cease to amaze me with their leadership, spirit and dedication. The Dole Foundation is doing wonderful things. Keep up the good work. God bless you, and thank you both. # # # TALKING POINTS -- DOLE FOUNDATION DROP-BY First of all, congratulations tonight are in order for your founder and chairman, Senator Dole; his wife Elizabeth; and your president and CEO, Jackie Strange. Their hard work and undying commitment to this foundation has brought us together tonight. This foundation has raised $1 million a year for four years in a row, and with the announcement of these $240,000 in grants tonight, you'll go over the $2.5 million mark in financial assistance to employment and training programs for people with disabilities. Your work is bringing Americans with disabilities back to work. In fact, you have put more than 2,500 Americans with disabilities back on the job -- with self-respect, dignity and pride. I've said it before: the best program for a person who is disabled is a job. I'd also like to congratulate Bill Marriott, winner of the Fourth Annual Leadership Award. I understand Marriott Corporation employs over 6,000 people with disabilities, a world leader in this area. Congratulations, Bill, and thank you. I've known Bob and Elizabeth Dole for a very long time, and they never cease to amaze me with their leadership, dedication and spirit. The Dole Foundation is doing wonderful things, and we're all grateful. God bless you and thank you both. ###
