Nancy/Carolyn nec fill THE WHITE HOUSE WASHINGTON January 8, 1976 MEMORANDUM TO: PETER SORUM FROM: SUSAN PORTER SUBJECT: Action Memo Mrs. Ford has accepted the following out-of-house invitation: EVENT: Luncheon GROUP: League of Republican Women of the District of Columbia DATE: Monday, January 12, 1976 TIME: 11:30 Reception 12:00 Luncheon PLACE: Mayflower Hotel, Washington, D.C. FORD R. GERALD LIBRARY CONTACT: Mrs. Bruce E. Clark, President O: 347-5113 H: 667-5109 PRESS: Ms. Dorese Bell, 966-4124 COMMENTS: Mrs. Ford was for many years an active member of the League of Republican Women of the District of Columbia and will attend their luncheon. She is also Honorary Chairman of the luncheon. The luncheon is called the "Frankie Welch Congressional Wives' Luncheon Style Show" and the style show will be presented by Frankie Welch. Preceding the luncheon will be a reception. Mrs. Ford does not wish to spend a great deal of time at the reception and feels that the thrust of her attention should be upon the guests attending as opposed to the -2- VIPs. I would think, however, that she might want to drop by for quick photographs at the conclusion of the reception. I might also mention that they are planning to have a baby elephant ("Gabriel") which should make for some enjoyable photographs. The file is attached. Thank you. C: BF Staff GERALD R.
