THE VICE PRESIDENT'S BRIEFING PAPER
Tuesday, March 19, 1974
9:30 AM
Mr. Miltich recommends you accept this
interview.
10:30 AM
This is a study program for those students
interested in pursuing government careers.
They are students from all over the U.S. and
now from military families in the European
countries. This is their 7th year for
this program. We understand that you have
attended all seven programs in the past.
They would appreciate you delivering a few
general remarks and then Q & A.
3:00 PM
Bruce Triplehorn is sixteen years old and
from Columbus, Ohio. He sent you a ltr re:
your football career at the Univ. of Michigan.
It seems his great uncle Howard Triplehorn
was a colleague of yours. Bruce has found
a Michigan-Michigan State Football program
dated October 6, 1934 w/your picture in it.
He would like you to autograph it for him.
Since few people can come up w/a 1934 football
program (Mi.), this would not create any
future scheduling problems.
His parents are here on business this week,
so we felt it would be a memorable occasion
for the young man. (WE HOPE YOU AGREE!)
3:15 PM
Amb. Kahn wants to pay a courtesy call. Mr. Marsh
endorses this visit.
3:30 PM
Dr. David is presently V.P. for Research, Gould,
Inc., Chicago, and President of Gould Laboratories.
He is a former Science Advisor to President Nixon
and Director of the Office of Science and Technology
Dr. David would like to discuss some of the concerns
of the science community.
Frank Pagnotta endorses this visit.
6:30 PM
Cong. Sikes for the past four years has been
entertaining friends on his wedding anniversary.
This particular one is their 25th ANNIVERSARY.
We have explained to his office, you would probably
drop-by for a few minutes.
7:00 PM
You will receive the "Man of the Year Award.

The ceremony should last for about 40 minutes

THE VICE PRESIDENT'S BRIEFING
PAPER
Thursday, March 21, 1974
8:00 AM
This briefing from Interior is the same as you have
been attending with other Department Heads.
9:30 AM
Amb. Eberle, President's special representative for
trade negotiations, wants to discuss the Trade
Reform Act. He is anticipating action being taken
this morning.
10:00 AM
The President has requested a meeting on current
political climate as subject.
2:00 PM
This will be a courtesy call. Mr. Marsh endorses
this visit.
2:40 PM
Mt. Holyoke College Professor Victoria Schuck's
class of political science students. Ms. Schuck
has taught the political science class for 34 years,
she initiated the concept of summer student intern-
ships in Washington in 1949. About 40 women each
summer are personally placed by Ms. Schuck in offices
on the Hill and around town by virtue of her
personal contacts with officials. We are informed
that you have employed an intern every year.
There are 50 students from Holyoke, Amherst,
Smith, Univ. of Mass., and Hampshire.
This year each student has chosen a piece of major
legislation and is following and studying it in depth
and reporting to the rest of the class each week.
The group should be well versed in current public
policy issues.
3:00 PM
The President has called for a National Sec. Mtg.
regarding SALT.
4:15 PM
Mr. Miltich suggested this interview.
