UFOs
"I don't laugh at people anymore when they say they have seen
UFOs because I've seen one myself."

UFO
Asked to comment on a report that he had seen an unidentified flying
object and no longer laughs at people who believe in them, he said,
"One night I was getting ready to speak to a Lions club in southwest Georgia,
and there were about 20 members outside, and a light appeared in the
western sky, and it got bright and then disappeared.
"I was running for Governor, I think, at the time. The episode was reported
in the newspapers and to that extent it was true."
Carter made light of the report and told the crowded hearing room, to
laughter, "I think it was a light telling me to enter the primaries."
