THE WHITE HOUSE
WASHINGTON
May 13, 1976
MEETING WITH GOVERNOR JIM RHODES, OHIO
Thursday, May 13, 1976
2:30 p.m. (20 minutes)
The Oval Office
From: Jim Cannon Jain
I.
PURPOSE
Governor Rhodes called last week and asked to come
in and visit with you about the Ohio situation.
II.
BACKGROUND, PARTICIPANTS & PRESS PLAN
A. Background: Jim Rhodes has provided us
with a weekly report on the Ohio situation,
which I have passed on to you. He called last
week and wanted to visit briefly with you about
Ohio developments. He may also bring up the
add-on nuclear uranium enrichment plant issue as it
relates to Portsmouth, Ohio. When the Joint Committee
reported the nuclear fuel assurance legislation
earlier this week, the Ohio papers played the
angle that the Ohio Congressional delegation had
secured the Portsmouth add-on plant. Jim Rhodes
may indicate to you that he feels that you should
get the credit for this.
B. Participants: Governor Rhodes
Kent McGough, Ohio Republican Chairman
Rogers Morton
Dick Cheney
Jim Cannon
C. Press Plan: To be announced. Photo opportunity.
