-16- 11- - Representation of Puerto Rico a. The Free Associated State shall be represented in the Senate and the House of Representatives of the United States by one representative in each House, who shall be elected for that position according to the laws of Puerto Rico. They shall have a seat in the Senate and in the House of Representatives of the United States and shall receive offical acknowledgement from all the departments of the Government of the United States upon presentation by the Department of State of a certificate of election issued by the Governor of Puerto Rico. Such representatives shall have the qualifications established for members of the Senate and the House of Representatives, respectively. b. In case of a vacancy in either of these positions, it will be filled for the rest of the term according to the laws of Puerto Rico. -more-
