C.\nDear Don:\nI have been interested for a long time in vocational\ntraining for the jobless, and one of the persons in whom I have developed\na great deal of confidence over the years for his ability to devise\nand run effective programs in that field is Mr. Welcome T. Bryant.\nWhen I first learned of his work, Mr. Bryant was employed\nby the Omaha, Nebraska Public School System. He is now engaged in\nsimilar work in private industry. He is Vice-President of the\nNorthern Systems Company, a subsidiary of the Northern Natural Gas\nCompany of Omaha, Nebraska.\nThe Northern Systems Company has been engaged for about ten\nyears in the business of teaching skills to the hard-core unemployed,\nthe economically disadvantaged, and inmates of penal institutions.\nYou may recall that several years ago Mr. Bryant was considered by\nyou for a position in the Office of Economic Opportunity.\nMr. Bryant would like to visit with you, when your time\npermits, about his experience in job-training programs and to offer\nsome suggestions which I believe will be of interest to you in regard\nto future manpower training programs. I know how busy your schedule\nis and, therefore, would not make this request unless I was sure it would\nbe of benefit to you and to the President. Mr. Bryant resides in\nWashington, D. C., and therefore can be available at your beck and\ncall.
