THE WHITE HOUSE
WASHINGTON
January 13, 1976
MEMORANDUM FOR:
JAMES CANNON
FROM:
MARGITA WHITE mew
SUBJECT:
Briefing and Presidential Reception
for Radio Television News Directors
Association, Friday, January 30, 1976
On Friday, January 30, 150-200 members of the Radio Television News
Directors Association will attend a White House briefing on the State of
the Union, Budget and Economic Report, followed by a reception with
the President.
The briefing will be held in 450 OECB from 1:00 to 4:45 p.m. The
President will address the group in the East Room at 5:15 m. and
then host a reception in the State Dining Room.
A similar post-State of the Union briefing for the RTNDA was held
last year. That program was so successful that the organization
requested this year's briefing. The news directors will be coming to
Washington especially for this event.
This briefing presents a unique opportunity to provide information about
the President's programs and initiatives to those who direct news
operations for television and radio stations throughout the country.
Therefore, Ron Nessen and I very much hope that your schedule will
permit you to participate for 30-35 minutes during the afternoon.
Following is a tentative schedule for the afternoon's briefing:

I would appreciate your letting me know if you will be able to
participate as soon as possible (456-2977). We also hope you will
be able to attend the President's reception following the briefing
to chat informally with the broadcasters.
