FORD i LIBRARY GERALD
This March, Nebraskans celebrated the 96th
birthday of their state. On March 1, 1867

Welcome to our
ident Andrew Johnson signed the procla-
mation admitting Nebraska as the 37th
28th Annual
state. In 1931, the Nebraska legislature
voted to designate March 1 as Nebraska Day
and in 1936, the Republican party of Ne-
FOUNDERS' DAY
braska organized what is now known as
Founders' Day in
honor of those Ne-
braskans whose
FOUNDERS'

the honorable
see that Nebraska
became a full part-
ner in the union.
GERALD R. FORD, JR.
The Founders' Day observance is always
scheduled in early spring of each year, and
this year features Republican Congressman
Congressman. State of Michigan
Gerald R. Ford, Jr. of Michigan. Founders'
Day is planned and administered under the
leadership of a committee made up of prom-
inent republicans from all over the state.
This committee is organized apart from
the regular GOP structure. 1963 is the
28th annual meeting of Founders' Day.
