Dear Rep. Ford,
I just last night saw a picture of two UFO's taken
by two boys over Detroit. The pictures are very clear,
and show a couple of two very unusual flying machines. I'm
certain you have one in your possession by now.
It is most interesting that Dr. Allen J. Hyneck, the
top UFO analyist for the U. S. Air Force, said that, "the
pictures have not been faked, the objects in the picture
are real similar to other pictures I have seen!" With
this admission, I now believe it is imperative to have
a full investigation and to find out exactly what the true
story is concerning the "flying disks".
I believe you should confront the Secretary of the Air
Force with this photograph and the statement of Dr. Hyneck,
and obtain a definite answer from the Air Force concerning
these objects.
I cannot understand why an object which can race in
at speeds in excess of 4000 miles an hour, come to a complete
halt, hover silently in mid-air, and then disappear straight
up within 2 to 3 seconds is not considered by the Air Force

to be of any importance to the security of the United
States. This just doesn't make sense.
There has been too much proof of sightings, and now
this beautiful photograph with Dr. Hyneck's admission that
the objects are real, to put off any further a final
conclusion.
I will see Rep. Frank Evans this Friday, and will
bring the subject up with him. He is on the House Armed
Services Committee and should also be most helpful in
coming to a conclusion on the subject.
Thank you for your consideration in this matter.

House of Representatives,
Washington, D.C.
Dear Mr. Ford,
I thank you for your letter of June 5, and have only
the following comments to make as a citizen of another
country following the developments of a scientific problem
in another country;
It amazes me to see just how many persons including
Members of Congress and Senators who seem to think that the
University of Colorado program is going to provide the
answers to one of the greatest problems of our time.
This Colorado program although warranted is plainly
PHOTOCOPY FROM GERALD FORD I BRARY
understaffed. It at present consists of four full-time
persons, none with training at the Ph.D. level, and several
part-time members who contribute to the program averages
less than 30 or 40 per cent in time.
At present, what is really required is a full-scale
Congressional investigation to examine the actual nature of
this problem.
The Hearings held before the House Committee on Armed
Services last year was a superb example of one sidedness.
The three persons testifying were all attached to the USAF
and therefore naturally falsely gave the impression that the
UFO subject was in good hands.
I consider it a travesty of justice that a few pleas
from people in the Michigan area can secure a hearing on
the UFO problem when a group like the National Investigations
Committee on Aerial Phenomena is ignored for over 7 years.
(cont'd next page)
-2-
NICAP has on its records sufficient data for half-dozen
Congressional Hearings but Congress does not want to know.
All in all my respect for American justice has somewhat
dropped. I quite frankly state that I have never come across
so much injustice and issuance of false statements as I have
discovered being made by U.S. Government Agencies regarding
UFO's. If you do not believe me, I shall send you the
evidence.
The above are briefly my views at present and I invite
your comments on them.
Please understand that this is not aimed at you
personally.
Thanking you for taking the time to read this letter.
Sincerely,
Julia Julian J.A. J Hennessey. A. Hlumeney.

Dear Sir,
Earls Court,
London, S.W.5.
As you may be aware, the United States has recently given the
University of Colorado a grant of 313,000 dollars to investigate
unidentified flying objects. This investigation, under the
Chairmanship of Dr. Edward U. Condon of the University's Physics
and Astrophysics Department, is primarily to determine whether
there is any pattern, in the mass of reports on file, that would
indicate that interplanetary vehicles are reaching this planet
from an extraterrestrial source (*).
In view of the above study and its possible far-reaching
implications, I should be pleased to learn what your own opinions
on this subject are at this stage.
Your reply will not be published without your previous written
consent.
Yours sincerely,

Dear Mr. Posner:
Thank you for your letter of November 19th asking that I send you any
information that I may periodically be able to send you concerning the
progress being made by the University of Colorado in their study of UFO's.
I appreciate your interest in this matter and although I have not been

informed by the University that they intend to keep me current on the
progress of their investigation, if I do receive anything from them on
the status of the investigation, I will be glad to pass it along.
Kindest personal regards.

Dear Sir,
I wish to express my thanks to you for sending me the Air
Force press release of October7 concerning the University of Colorado
and its UFO project. Robert Low, project coordinator, has informed me
that no findings will be released to the public until they are reviewed
by the National Academy of Sciences; the press release states that the
Air Force will be informed in early 1968. This leaves me wondering
whether the public will be told anything definite before 1970.
I would sincerely appreciate receiving any information
that you may periodically be able to send concerning the progress
being made by the University.

Dear Miss Hessler:
We refer to Mr. Ford's inquiry in behalf of Mr. Norman Reiss
requesting further information on unidentified flying objects (UFOs).
I have inclosed the latest news releases pertaining to this
subject.
We have more than 11,000 sightings on file at Project Blue
Book and have not published resumes on each and every one --- only
the more interesting ones, such as those inclosed.
The House Armed Services Committee published Pamphlet 55 on
the hearing of April 5, 1966 concerning UFOs. A copy of this report
is attached.
We do not have any copies of the February 1966 edition of the
report on Project Blue Book. This was the 1965 year-end report
including statistics since the program's inception in 1947. The
facts and figures have been updated and are included in the inclosed
1967 edition.
PHOTOCOPY FROM GERALD FORD I BRARY
Project Blue Book Special Report No. 14 is discussed on Page 5
of the inclosed report. However, if Mr. Reiss should happen to come
to Washington, he would be more than welcome to read our file copy
and take whatever notes he wishes. Arrangements can be made through
the Secretary of the Air Force, Office of Information (SAF-OICC),
The Pentagon, Washington, D. C. 20330.
The only recent Air Force publication pertaining to Project Blue
Book is the one which I have inclosed. We are not familiar with the
publication to which Mr. Reiss refers.
The FTD Form 164 and the Special Report of the USAF Scientific
Advisory Board which Mr. Reiss requested are also inclosed.
It is a pleasure to be of assistance in this matter and we hope
the information will be helpful.

Dear Mr. Reiss:
Thank you for your thoughtful and informative letter of March 28 in
regard to unidentified flying objects and the Administration's treat-

As you know, I have as the Minority Leader repeatedly recommended that
thorough investigative action be taken and the public be informed con-

Sir;
Reading a story in the newrpaper on the 27th about
the U.F.O. seen ait the Wanafue Reservoir, New Jerrey, brought to
mind s story in the Lovenal arerian, 30 mush 1966, so cleaking back
on the chipping, it said that you have arhed for a Congressional
hearing into UFO sighting and the air Frees Project Bluebook, what
wer happened to the hearings, n at the hearings you also said
that you "want Congress to investigate in order to give the public
a better explonation than that thus for goven by the dir Free
Since we the poblic are still being givin the same
explanation, than Congress has agreed with this explanation that
has been given by the Air Force for all sightling to date. Tore?!
in with cor if a U.F.O. was to come alown in Times Square,
at high moon, and the her Four was to say it is for for
lets say swomp gar, then Congress world syree with that
explanation. h myself am not sure if there is sunh a
thing as a flying Saver. but A don't matter, but you
would think that my Engreer would be sore, and come out
with the report of the envelizations made by them that you
asked for.
Thank you
