Washington, D. C.
Honorable Sir :-
I am most appreciative of your several letters written me
since 1966.
I ask that you make a special effort to effect a congress-
ional investigation of "flying saucers". It is long, long

overdue
20 years overdue, in fact.
I am encouraged that congressmen Roush and Miller granted a
hearing for Drs. McDonald and Hynek on the matter of UFOs.
We must push for full exposure, for the poor public has been
nastily deceived, on this subject, since 1947, apparently by
the Air Force and the CIA together. Even certain eminent
congressmen were hood-winked, in 1966, by the Air Force ( and
CIA ? ) by a promise that there would be an IMPARTIAL study of
UFOs, conducted at the University of Colorado, by conscientious
scientists. This "study" has been exposed as a $500,000. Air
Force boondoggle, and it is my firm belief that Dr. Condon will
come out with an answer fully in accord with what the Air Force
wishes and expects
that the aerial phenomenon is the product
of
psychotic individuals, misinterpretion of convential air-
craft, balloons, birds, Menzel's mirages, Klass's "plasmas"
etc
Actually, the public is paying to be deceived. It is our
taxes which support such a study. The whole matter is damnable!
In 1966, instead of trusting the Air Force statement that an
honest, scientific study would be conducted on UFOs, you and
other responsible congressmen should have pressed, then and there,
for a full congressional investigation on the whole matter.
I am one of the "pioneer" UFO researchers, engaged in an object-
ive and scientific study of this phenomenon since 1947. I am not
a mystic, nor "contactee". Though not a member of NICAP, I am
sympathetic to its efforts. Dr. Hynek, in 1966, wrote me that he
decided to take my advice and dare to be a Daniel

Honorable Gerald Ford (cont.) )
If you will read M. K. Jessup's UFO ANNUAL-1955, you will see
my statement that it is my belief the Air Force never would
admit the reality of "flying saucers'
that the objects are
of such nature that to admit their reality would be far too em-
barrassing. As a psychical researcher since 1934, I feel
rather qualified to express my belief that the conventional "sau-
cer" is an ionospheric ideoform of an ectoplasmic substance, emp-
loying teleportation for movement. My theory was first publi-
cized, in May 1949, in The Saturday Evening Post, by Shalett.
In July, 1947, Haberer, of the Radio and Press section, wright-
Patterson, Air Force Base, Dayton, wrote me If Your

If the Condon report comes out declaring UFOs are all "in the head"
that will make all those Michigan sighters out to be psychotics
and this I refuse to accept!

P. S. I think it shameful that our news media maintains a
hands off attitude towards "good" United States sightings. We
are doled out only several UFO accounts, yearly, and all from
foreign countries! I suspect that the CIA has a hand in this.
Incidentally, I believe the CIA deserves a VERY THOROUGH cong-
ressional investigation. The rascally A.E.C. nuclear "test" boon-
doggle, also requires a good looking into. I claim it a vast waste
of the taxpayers' money. Duplicity, deception 21 "tests"
already
set off this year: The public is made a fool of, and never even
questions the A.E.C.'s activity. I DO QUESTION THE A.E.C.S ACTIVITY!

CONGRESSIONAL HOUSE COMMITTEE ON SCIENCE AND ASTRONAUTICS
RAYBURN HOUSE
WASHINGTON,D.
Chairman: Congressman G.P.Miller
Congressman Roush
July 29,1968
Highlights of the proceedings as reported in person
by
G.L. Bernier
As a result of receiving a sudden notice that the Congressional House Committee on
Science and Astronautics was to hold an important symposium in Washington, D.C. on
July 29-168 related to the U.F.O. controversy, Mr. Bernier, editor of U.F.O.-INFO, with
the expeditious assistance of Hon. Senator Henry M.Jackson (Wash.) and Congressman
G.P.Miller (Calif.) was in attendance Bernier wishes to express publicly, his
gratitude to the office of Senator Henry .Jackson for its gracious and competent
assistance. Following is an account of the symposium.
The symposium was held as a result of mounting pressure exerted on congressmen and
senators in the form of thousands of recent letters demanding an answer to the con-
tinuing mystery of the U.F.O. question, and expressing dissatisfaction in the manner
that to date, the U.F.O. enigma has been handled by official bodies in charge of its
solution.
The symposium reflected a change in attitude by officials,- from one of ridicule
and derision to one of serious concern, almost to the point of urgency. This
change in attitude by official bodies concerned with the U.F.O. problem was generat-
ed largely by the tireless efforts of several qualified scientists, both American
and foreign, several reputeable civilian U.F.O. research organizations, and numerous
members of the public press. The object of holding the symposium was to alert member
-s of Congress of the need NOW, of a concerted program of U.F.O. research by qualifi
-ed scientists, that a real problem exists, and that the solution to it can no longer
be delayed. Substantuation of this need for Congressional action was bulwarked by
the formal presentation of theory and supporting evidence as expressed and compiled
by the six eminent scientists that composed the members of the panel.
In brief, each of the six scientists proclaimed a need for immediate action on the
part of official bodies and agencies, and offered suggestions Congress could follow
to expedite the program.
Dr. J.Allen Hynek:
Proceedure to evolve the U.F.O. problem can no longer be delayed, should be conduct-
ed as a high level scientific research, and should incorporate the world-wide re-
resources of reputeable scientists channeled through the United Nations Organizat-
ion. The data thus obtained, then computerized and analyzed to establish where
possible, frequency and sighting pattern. The program to accomplish this should
be funded.
Dr. J.E. McDonald:
The scientific community should be alerted to a real and serious problem and the
technical assistance and rescources of such agencies as N.A.S.A. and N.S.F. be en-
listed. These agencies along with similar type scientific programs should be co-
ordinated to the prime objective of obtaining undisputeable and solid evidence. In
addition, review with new vigor, some of the more credulous reports and continue to
draw on world-wide report sources, not just American, --- and make this information
available.
Dr. Hall:
Apply scientific consideration NOW, to the potential sociological and psychological
impact on the reactions of man to an eventual confrontation with an alien intellig-
ence, possibly one more advanced than our Segregate the obvious hoax and
sensationalism material from the "hard core" evidence, evaluate the background and
motivation of report witnesses and seek out that evidence that will withstand
scientific attack from all fronts.
Dr. Sagan:
Augment with additional funds, those programs now in operation useing radio-tele
scopes to enhance the search for extra-terrestial life of a level of developement
capable of responding to communication.
Dr. Baker:
Initiate a study from the sociological and psychological viewpoint that could serve
as a guide to allay any possibility of developement of a "panic neurosis" that
perhaps could result should the findings of the scientific community prove extra-
terrestial life with intelligence as we conceive it,is actual.

Dr. Harder:
Analyze the physical aspects of U.F.O. reports and evidence by use of technical and
scientific "hardware" and aids, to obtain where possible, clues to the propulsive
and power sources of U.F.O.s, with the intent such energy could be utilized by man.
Reaction to the symposium by various Congressmen in attendance:
Congressmen:
Brown, Bell, Wydler, and Cabell all showed extreme interest in the presentations made
by the six eminent scientists and indicated approval of further study and research.
Congressman Ryan expressed interest in certain documented U.F.O. reports and was
impressed with specific cases involving apparent reactions caused by the emission
of Electro-magnetic radiation.
Congressman Pattis: --encouraged the members of the symposium stateing, "Go ahead,
research now".
Congressman Roush, Sub-committe and moderator for the symposium, closed the
meeting with words to this effect,
Gentlemen, in all the ten years I have served
as Sub-committeeman of the House Committee on Science and Astronautics, this
symposium here today has been the most interesting and provacative of all;and
Americans and Congress may well look back at today's gathering of scientists and
congressmen as a positive forward step in man's endeavor toward better understand-
ing and knowlrdge of the Universe of which he is a significant part.
.....
WHAT YOU CAN TO HELP
Write to your senator or congressman NOW, today, urge him to join forces with those
congressmen and senators that have taken the initiative to petition Congress for
an ACTIVE U.F.O. RESEARCH PROGRAM. Even a simple postcard will be effective. DO

COMMENT:
Three years ago, this editor sensed a change in the public attitude towards the
U.F.O. subject, noteing the escalation of interest, the gradual deletion of the
"Kook", "Gee-whiz" and religious fanatic following that had exploited the subject.
He was also more than aware of the mounting numbers of spontaneous sighting reports
backed up by reputeable witnesses and technical evidence (some photos). These obser-
vations lead to the publishing of U.F.O.-INFO,this periodic Bulletin.U. -INFO,
pursues the subject of U.F.O. mainly from the viewpoint of the physical aspects and
has little concern with where the U.F.O.S come from, why they are here or what the
outcome in the way of social change would be, should they prove to be devices of
extra=terrestial origin. U.F.O.-INFO wants to know what makes them go 2 To this
end the editor has screened thousands of reports, read dozens of books, good,
and some not so good, --and has concluded like others that approach the U.F.O. sub-
ject objectively, that the answer lies not so much in file cases loaded with thous-
ands of reports from world-wide sources, though they too in themselves contribute
to the solution, but feels that the real solution lies in the field of instrumented
research. Scientific "Hardware", and not wishful thinking, will resolve the U.F.O.
question. Instrumented detection and reliable photographic evidence can offer to
analyzing scientists, solid unemotional facts that can be considered in the light
of modern physics, will withstand laboratory attack, and will serve as the spring-
board to further study. Gone is the II I think I saw a flying saucer" phase. of
U.F.O. and in its place have moved crews of technically trained and schooled
engineers and scientists .... and this is as it should be.Enters now into the sub-
ject of U.F.O. such phrases and words as;Radio-telescope, unified field theory,
E-M detector, spectograph, defraction grateing, variometer, polarized and telephotoed
pictures, ionic distortion detectors, and a host of other ultra-sophisticated terms
applicable to the scientific "gear" of modern physics. Little room is now left for
the exploiter of fantasy and imagination, though he too has contributed in his way
by calling to the attention of a huge reading audience,a subject each individual
may some day soon --- come to realize will involve his life in a perso nal way.
Already, foreign nations utilizing ultra-sophisticated equipement are pursuing in
a rational manner with the technical methods of modern physics a resolution to the
enigma of U.F.O. Several years ago the Soviets orbited the first satellite weighing

knife attacks and sticks and protected by a metal armor. The earthlings have
lost the first skirmishes with the spazens for they use paralizing weapons,
electromagnetic shock waves, ultrasonic waves of light and heat and blinding

Without fear, hysteria or panic all peoples of the world must awake
for the confrontation with our counterparts of distant planets.
The United States Government must not continue to ignore the presen-
ce of our space visitors and must take immediate steps to instrument ways
to deal with them in the best interest and protection of our integrity as a
nation and of our people.
Iam sending a copy of this letter to Congressman Gerard Ford
and to Senator Fulbright as well as to the press. Kindly circulate this
letter among Congress members, both houses for which I thank you very much.
As a citizen 1t is my duty to awake the citizenry 80 we can face and solve
this important question of security.

Use the best equipement you can.It need not be expensive nor sophisticated but
should be reliable .Many good photos have been taken with "simple" or Box Cameras.
Use common sense,be conservative, listen intently for sound before taking the pic-
ture. If you use a box camera, try to obtain a second one. Have "fast"color in one
"fast" B.& W. in the other. Have both easily available. Hold the camera STILL.
Other cameras, movie included, use telephoto if available, "fast" color or B &W.
If possible to "set-up" befor-hand,use a tripod ---in any event HOLD THE CAMERA
STILL. Practice taking pictures of street lights, the moon,or neon signs, and air-
planes. Try for "close-up" pictures, even with telephoto a speck is worthless. Use
equipement you are familiar with. Be patient and always alert, Expect the"unexpect-
ed". Include fore-ground and back ground objects if at all possible. Have plenty of
un-exposed film in the camera. Consult film guide books for best aperatures and
shutter speeds for the film in the camera for taking "moon shots", car lights,
neon signs, etc., at night and moving objects under unusual and difficult light
conditions in daylight. BE PERSISTANT SUCESS CAN COME AT ANYTIME//

--- SYMPOSIUM
Seattle, Wash.
CONGRESSIONAL HOUSE COMMITTEE ON SCIENCE AND ASTRONAUTICS
RAYBURN HOUSE
WASHINGTON,D.
Chairman: Congressman G.P.Miller
Sub-commi Congressman J.E. Roush
July 29,1968
Highlights of the proceedings as reported in person
by
G.L.Bernier
As a result of receiving a sudden notice that the Congressional House Committee on
Science and Astronautics was to hold an important symposium in Washington, on
July 29-168 related to the U.F.O. controversy, Mr. Bernier, editor of U.F.O. -INFO, with
the expeditious assistance of Hon. Senator Henry M. Jackson (Wash.) and Congressman
G.P.Miller (Calif.) was in attendance. Bernier wishes to express publicly, his
gratitude to the office of Senator Henry M.Jackson for its gracious and competent
assistance. Following is an account of the symposium.
The symposium was held as a result of mounting pressure exerted on congressmen and
senators in the form of thousands of recent letters demanding an answer to the con-
tinuing mystery of the U.F.O. question, and expressing dissatisfaction in the manner
that to date, the U.F.O. enigma has been handled by official bodies in charge of its
solution.
The symposium reflected a change in attitude by officials, from one of ridicule
and derision to one of serious concern, almost to the point of urgency. This
change in attitude by official bodies concerned with the U.F.O. problem was generat-
ed largely by the tireless efforts of several qualified scientists, both American
and foreign, several reputeable civilian U.F.O. research organizations, and numerous
members of the public press.
Proceedure to evolve the U.F.O. problem can no longer be delayed, should be conduct-
ed as a high level scientific research, and should incorporate the world-wide re-
resources of reputeable scientists channeled through the United Nations Organizat-
ion. The data thus obtained, then computerized and analyzed to establish where
possible,a frequency and sighting pattern.
Dr. Baker:
Initiate a study from the sociological and psychological viewpoint that could serve
as a guide to allay any possibility of developement of a "panic neurosis" that
perhaps could result should the findings of the scientific community prove extra-
terrestial life with intelligence as we conceive it, is actual.

Dr.Harder:
Analyze the physical aspects of U.F.O. reports and evidence by use of technical and
scientific "hardware" and aids, to obtain where possible, clues to the propulsive
and power sources of U.F.O.s,with the intent such energy could be utilized by man.
Congressman .-encouraged the members of the symposium stateing, "Go ahead,
research now".
Congressman J.E. Roush, Sub-committeeman and moderator for the symposium, closed the
meeting with words to this effect,
Gentlemen, in all the ten years I have served
as Sub-committeeman of the House Committee on Science and Astronautics, this
symposium here today has been the most interesting and provacative of all;and
Americans and Congress may well look back at today's gathering of scientists and
congressmen as a positive forward step in man's endeavor toward better understand-
ing and knowlrdge of the Universe of which he is a significant part.
WHAT YOU CAN HELP
Write to your senator or congressman NOW, today, urge him to join forces with those
congressmen and senators that have taken the initiative to petition Congress for
an ACTIVE U.F.O. RESEARCH PROGRAM. Even a simple postcard will be effective. D o

These obser-
vations lead to the publishing of U.F.O.-INFO, this periodic Bulletin. F.O.-INFO,
pursues the subject of U.F. O. mainly from the viewpoint of the physical aspects and
has little concern with where the U.F.O.s come from, why they are here or what the
outcome in the way of social change would be, should they prove to be devices of
extra=terrestial origin. U.F.O.-INFO wants to know what makes them
go
?
To
this
end the editor has screened thousands of reports, read dozens of books, -some good,
and some not so good,--and has concluded like others that approach the U.F.O. sub-
ject objectively, that the answer lies not so much in file cases loaded with thous-
ands of reports from world-wide sources, though they too in themselves contribute
to the solution, but feels that the real solution lies in the field of instrumented
Gone is the II I think I saw a flying saucer" phase of
U.F.O. and in its place have moved crews of technically trained and schooled
engineers and scientists .... and this is as it should be. Enters now into the sub-
ject of U.F.O. such phrases and words ;Radio-telescope, unified field theory,
E-M detector, spectograph, defraction grateing, variometer, polarized and telephotoed
pictures, ionic distortion detectors, and host of other ultra-sophisticated terms
applicable to the scientific "gear" of modern physics. Little room is now left for
the exploiter of fantasy and imagination, though he too has contributed in his way
by calling to the attention of a huge reading audience,a subject each individual
may some day soon -- come to realize will involve his life in a perso nal way.
Already, foreign nations utilizing ultra-sophisticated equipement are pursuing in
a rational manner with the technical methods of modern physics a resolution to the
enigma of U.F.O. Several years ago the Soviets orbited the first satellite weighing
near a ton and a half. Some months later we orbited a "grapefruit" / We cannot
allow repetition.

official office to study UFOs and can also contact a Mrs. Irmgard
Lincoln - 546-4030
A Mr. Derenberger claims to be in contact with UFO spacemen tele-
pathically. He has made a documentary that was shown in Germany
and the German people are very interested. He has arranged for
meetings or at least seeing of UFO objects on a number of occasions
and 90 percent of the time there has been favorable results.
Last night he was on the Fred Gale Show (WWDC) and said that it
would be worthwhile to take the time to attend this gathering this
evening. Based on the material he got from the spacemen he feels
it would be definitely worthwhile going.
A number of Congressman have been invited (those who hare shown
an interest in UFO -- perhaps Laird and Gallager of New York -- )
and also a few Senators. They prefer that their names not be
mentioned yet. Officials from NASA and the Pentagon (Office of
Public Information -- Assistant Secretary of Public Affairs) have

been invited and may attend. Also the Radio--TV audio visual chief.
A psychiatrist who is a neighbor of Sec. McNamara will be there.
WTOP is going to be there as well as the German news agency. WRC
and WMAL may be there. Major Keyhoe's group -- NICAP ---- will be
there and is very interested. The Pentagon correspondent for Mutual

The time:
4:30 - 9:00 The most likely time will be about
twilight between 6 and 7. Probably after dark
there will be lights seen moving around. When
he arranged these sort of things in the past
lights were seen that were not airplanes. Mr.
Salkin has seen such lights on three occasions.
Mr. Derenberger showed this
documentary film in Germany on January 12. Last September and October
in made this documentary in various parts of the United States. The
theme is UFOs over the United States. They are trying to get a copy
of this film to show on the educational TV network.

Mr. Salkin is going to contact the Air Force and explain this to them.
It seems that in the past they have had some trouble with jets flying
around in the area.
Mr. Derenberger is also going to show a 32 second movie film that is
shown on TV whenever Mr. Derenberger is on. He is planning to take
this on a tour with him. It will also be shown here in Washington
at Mrs. Mildred Ferguson's home

MOSES LAKE, WASH. 2/13/68
Reported by a 5I year old man and his companion of Moses Lake, a"cluster" of U.F.O.s
hovered for several minutes between the Quincy-Ephrata area. Estimated to be about
three miles distant from the observers and at about two to three thousand feet al-
titude, the "cluster" consisted of one large central "fuzzy" object surrounded by
ten or eleven smaller units. The smaller units dodged back and forth behind each
other while the larger object remained stationary. The sighting was made about sun-
down and the objects did not emit any light, and though they were distinctly silhou-
etted against the darkening sky their distance from the witnesses prevented notice
of any super-structure or surface features. The large object however did approach
with in a mile and a half of the men then immediately retreated to its original
distance without turning around. At first they were thought to be either ducks or
geese but they hold their position for almost ton minutes and the men were certain
they were neither.A holicopter at that distance and elevation would have had to be
at least three or four hundred feot apross to oqual the sizo of the large object.
Star reflection is ruled out as the objects omitted no light; there also was no
sound which eliminates airoraft as an answor. Balloons would reflect light and would
not shift position as did the smaller no balloons were in the air in that
aora nor at that time. The objects after romaining vielble for the several minutes
reported, did like numorous other sighting roports state;thoy simply disappeared
while being watched.
N
CHUCKNUT VILLAGE WASH. 2/26/68
Porhaps rolated to the above roport is this report by Mrs. Malcolm Brown of 2II6-
Fairhavon Ave of Chucknut. Mrs. Brown, very bright lights which lit up the
sky passed directly over her home from east to west at I0:30 P.M. The group of light
-S made no sound, and consisted of two large objects and three smaller units. They
did not hover nor change course, were a white color and "faster than jets". No struct
-ure was noted.
N
VASHON ISLAND, WASH. 2/18/68
N
One of the most eerie sightings to-date in the Northwest --which has had a number
of unexplained U.F.O. events, took place at 2:00 A.M. (Sun.) near the small commun-
ity of Vashon, Wash. Reported by Joe Furbush I3 and Boone Powers I8 of Vashon and
verified by King County Sheriff, ,Don Holke, also of Vashon,a highly polished and
shiny object hovered above a gravel pit but a scant half mile from the center of
the sleeping community. The two boys were attracted by the light and went to invest-
igate. Upon reaching the gravel pit they saw the object hovering several hundred
feet in the air directly above the pit;a beam of light like a car headlight was
pointed downward. In seconds the object vanished and the frightened boys sought out
Sheriff Holke and returned to the acra.In the center of the pit was a fifty-foot
diameter pool of two-inch thick ice,yet the puddIes around the big pool were not
frozon. In addition to the mysterious appearance of the ico, the surface of it was
dry although it had been raining most of the day and night. If the ice was due to
natural causes why were not the little puddles also frozen?. LOX (liquid oxygen)
could freeze water in this manor but whore would 2 boys find a 150 pound bottle,
and it would take that much, of LOX at two A.M. to freeze the pool? The surface of
the ico was dry as confirmed by Shoriff Holko, "dry ice" would "smoke" --and there
was no vapour. What was the "beam" the boys described? So far no one has been able
to give a satisfactory answor. Vashon Island has been the center of sevoral unus-
ual U.F.O. events among thon the Maury Island sighting involving the death of two
official invostigators.and moro recently, the three day serios of U.F.O. sightings
reported by residents and sheriffs in which livostock, chickens, cats and dogs were
in a noar state of panic three nights in a row as U.F.O.s wore watch passing ovor
and about the Island. The "boam" feature of the U.F.O, is but one detail of the
sighting that has also been observed soveral timos recontly by witnosses report-
ing sightings in other parts of this country. Wanaquo N.J. had sightings of U.F.O.s
in which photographs showed the actual boams radiating from the objects. Much of
this sighting too be YORRDAM GER ALD FORD day the puddlos frozen??
N
OAK HARBOR WASH. 2/28/68
Another Northwest sighting has been reported by Robert Fortune ATI. Fortune,a navy
man living at 70 N.E ST Oak Harbor watched an orange-red light pass over his home
at about five hundred feet in a straight-line course, soundless and emitting "star-
like" rays. The object appeared from the northeast, stopped in mid-air near Fortune's
home then just vanished. The witness was able to get a photo of the object but it
wastaken on slow color film and almost total darkness, the outcome of the picture
is very doubtful. The U.F.O. was also watched by Fortunes babysitter, his wife, and
neighbors. This was Mr. Fortune's second sighting, the first being while on duty in
Vietnam and was identical to this one but much faster and did not stop nor "hover".
N
HOQUIAM,1 2/28/68
Reported by William Ulrey, 2II-0 St and Mr.and Mrs. Ed Rydman of Hoquiam, bright
flash moving across the sky at tremendous speed and appearing only as a low flying
white light caused their T.V. set to "flip" and "roll" and also caused a "jam" on
the radio the children of William Ulrey were listening to at the time of the sight
-ing. The object made no noise but no other details other than the bright light was
noted.
N
DAVENPORT ,WASH. 2/I-68 (Late report)
An unconfirmed sighting in the Wilbor-Odessa area of eastern Washington was filed
at the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office. Two Spokane radio stations had received a
rumor that a U.F.O. larger than the size of a large barn beside which it had touch-
ed down was sighted. The unknown witnesses stated the object was huge,a dull red
color and turned glaring white when it took off just before Air Force and officials
were able to obtain detailed information.
N
COLUMBUS, ,OHIO I/24/68
A spectacular report confirmed by several reliable witnesses including Columbus
Police, Sheriffs, and a Columbus Evening Dispatch reporter and photographer was filed
with Blue Book. The sighting covered several miles around Columbus and lasted over
45 minutes and involved two U.F.O.s that appeared between I500 and 3,000 foot elev-
ations. The two U.F.O.s first appeared over Columbus as two very bright white lights
one slightly above the other. At 8.00P.M. two deputies were dipatched to Big Run and
Grants road, southeast Columbus as a result of five seperate telephone calls by res-
idents. On arriving at the scene the two deputies reported by radio two large white
lights"like looking into a spot-light up close" hovering stationary in the sky.As
the deputies watched, one U.F.O. shifted position to the left the other to the right
and remained in that position for two or three minutes. Remaining in that position
for two or three minutes the one which was slightly above the other"zipped down" to
the level of its companion and parallel to it and hung motionless .During the inter
-lude of the sighting, the police disputcher was in contact with Lockbourne AFB UFO
division Lockbourne denied the sighting. In the meantime one of the objects "took P
off like a bullot" the single U.F.O. remained in an unchanged position. Several min-
utes later, the object tha had "taken off" returned beside the remaining U.F.O. and
the two moved in formation toward four transmission antennaes of the old appraoch
lights of the Lockbourne runway west of I-7I and slightly south of Rt. 665. The
U.F.O.s remained above the antonnae several minutes the one again "took off" in a
burst of speed to the southeast and on an inclined course and in seconds disappear-
ed.By this time reporter E.E.Eliott and staff photographor Tom Rockoy of the
Dispatch arrived at the scene and gavo this description of the object. The U.F.O.
appeared vaguely flattened, circular in shapo and glowed with a yellowish-white
light, was about the size of a airlinor and soundloss. The object "hung" above the
antennae for several minutos then moved in a straight line several miles away with
Elliott and Rockey following by freoway in pursuit. The toam followed the object for
30 minutes through-out southorn Franklin County trying to got close enough for a
picture. The single object was rojoined by a second one at this point and hovered in
close formation to the first. While the two observers were following the pair of
U.F.O.s two more were reported by radio sighted in the northern section of Columbus
along with several airplanos in hot pursuit. The four objects, two in the north and
two in the south were being reported by additional resident witnosses as the planos
appeared. Lockbourne continued to dony their existance. Forty-five minutos after tho
initial reporting and pursuit by witnesses the ontire group of four U.F.O.s, two in
southern Franklin County and two on the north side of Columbus simply disappoared.
The two in Franklin County vanished to the east in a slow "eruise" gaining speed
and going beyond vision. The two in the north above Columbus simply disappeared
The entire sighting lasted nearly an hour and was witnessed by dozens of people and
refuted by AF.Drawing below is duplicate submitted by staff men Elliott and Rockey.

ADDITIONAL SIGHTINGS REPORTED AND DOCUMENTED IN the LAST 60 DAYS
GETTYSBURG,OHIO
A large glittering light with white yellow, and red colors blending together and
measuring 20 feet long and IO feet thick of a lens shape was watched by a resident
with binoculars for twenty minutes outside his home. The object hovered, was about
200 feet high and a mile and a half distant. Disappeared northward at a slow "cruise"
SAXON,MINN.
A railroad crew switching cars watched a "string" of orange-red soundless lights
pass overhead at about 400 feet altitude. No details of structure. Several other
sightings reported by sheriffs and police of the area in recent weeks.
RIVERSIDE
A former AF officer and now designer for Lookeed reported a orange-red U.F.O.sight
-ed twenty minutes after a Minuteman ICBM was fired from Vandergurg AFB. The object
divided into two parts, then divided again. The objects moved in a northernly dir-
ection on a level flight course. The lights were not missle debris.
MILLINGTON ,MICH.
Several motorists watched a U.F.O. with four red blinking lights land near a school
yard. The lights changed to green as it touched down and a definito "Beeping" sound
was heard. The object blinked and disappeared while the witnesses stood watching.
SILVERVILLE PA.
A round disc shaped object emitting a warm orange glow was sighted by a motorist as
he drove into his driveway. The object stoppod and hovered the moved toward the
north. The motorist followed it, the object stopped again, the motorist got out of the
car and watched. It disappeared as an approaching car came toward the motorist. The
driver of the approaching car verified sighting the object.
COLUMBUS, OHIO
Admitted by Lockbourne A F B C.S a result of obtaining "a good solid return" by
a AFB radar sweep, three U.F.O.s were observed by police, residents, and commercial
airfield personnel. The objects wore round and bathed in brilliant red, blue and
green light. They were soundless. This is one of the few instances that AF has ad-
mittod publical y that radar contact with U.F.O.s has beon made. The objects hover-
ed several minutes above the city and were also seen as far south as Ross and
Highland Counties.Could this AF admission of radar contact be a beginning of a
change in attitude toward release of U.F.O. information to the public ???
FAWN TOWNSHIP PA.
A cono shapod U.F.O. was observed by a young lady and hor fathor as tho ontored
thoir car to go to work in the early morning. The object was doscribed as"real big
bright orange in color, shapor and soundloss! This was the second sighting with-
in a wook in the same area.
BREVARD, FLA.
A large ball shapod object was seen by two difforent men at the same timo from two
different areas noar Capo Canaveral. The object ascended but did not diminish in
size nor intensity of light. Was watched for about twenty minutes before it vanish
-ed from view. Patrick AFB and the Eastern Test Range Command Post both stated no
rocket launching was made at the time of sighting. The object was soundless and
flew a straight vertical course.
ANDERSON, SOUTH CAROLINA
Telephone switch-boards of police and fire departments were jammed as calls came
in reporting a U.F.O as it sailed across the sky from Edgeville to Ashville N.C.
An ex-navy gunner and a policeman both estimated the object to be about 2,000 feet
high and moving at 600 M/P/H.It made no sound. It appeared as "an airplane on fire"
or a rocket "turning somersaults" was a very bright orange color and in one report
appeared to make a near "touch-down" near the community of Belton then resume its
course and disappear. It was thought at first to be a comet but the length of sight
-ing time involved--over ten seconds --ruled out that possibility. It was witnessed
and reported by more than forty different people scattered over several miles
through-out the aera.
SHELLEY IDAHO
A bright or.nge colored object, soundless and in a horizontal flight course, cruised
directly overhead of two Shelley families who watched the U.F.O. for more than ten
minutes. The object traveled west to east below the heavy cloud cover over the area
and could therefore not have been a star reflection nor satellite. Ball lightening
or "Plasma" is also ruled out as the object was the size of Q. small airoraft and
"fuzzy". Ball lightening seldom is more than eighteen inches in diameter and very
vory seldom seen at high altitude.
BALIMORE,MD.
Griffith, state troopor along with two other officers and a police clerk watch-
ed a U.F.O. giving off various colored lights as it bobbod up and down and sideways
in the sky for noarly two hours. The object was silent, appeared as a "bright light"
rotated on its axis and remained stationary in the sky. The U.F.O. after being seen
for the two hours finally sped off in a lovel flight toward Annapolis and vanished.

ings in less than IO days had been logged.
The above examples of similar description and sketches is but the first in a series
comparative listings that will follow in later issues of the BULLETIN. In this ex-
ample it is more than obvious the two objects are almost identical and yet were wit-
nessed hundrods of miles apart and by two or more people totally unrelated to each
other. The sightings were mado by men in completely divorso fields of endeavor, their
backgrounds wore unlike, their social life was not the same and neither had ever
been evon remotely interested nor concerned about U.F.O.s The "port holes" in
McDonald's sighting could well have beon also in Taylor's sighting but because his
was made in daylight may not have boen noticod. The same applics to the "hose-like"
appendage in the McDonald report. In either case the parallol doscription of the two
objects, their proximity to high-voltago linos, their general color, appendages, shape
and similar size, addod to the fact they were both soundless, loavos little room for
doubt that they wore one and the same or at least of the same "family" line of U.F.O.
Because of the many variod descriptions of color and shape of U.F.O.s, the extrome
parallel of doscription adds groatly to the evidence of U.F.O.s boing concroto and
not an abstract figment of imagination. No two people see the same object the same
way
unless it is the same object
Hundreds of sightings are identical to each
other and yot made ofton thousands of milos apart, weeks or months soperatoly, and by
completely opposite type personalities and under varied circumstance and conditions.
The fact that many witnesses have no previous information about shape, color, action,
etc. of U.F.O.s and so describe their sighting as they saw it,again leaves little
room for deliberate decoption. The similarity of thousands upon thousands of sightings
throughout the world, not just the Unitod Statos, evon to the most skeptical,is
cause enough to warrant mature consideration of the potential and what almost seems
now to be conclusivo proof, that U.F.O.S, 0.8 extra-torristial devices (E.T.D.s) are
roal.

ous to pooh-pooh flying saucers and dull the public's alertness when a U.F.O. might
be an infernal machine yet it is unknown what they are. Or even if they are. The

officially flim-flam the people about flying saucers. The C I A guess about the
Russian position was proved correct by the Soviet's call for a world conference to
determine if someone is watching.

physics expert, per Dr. Condon, terminated because of lack of competence"
The University of Colorado U.F.O. research project is due completion in June of
this year. It then goes to the National Academy of Sciences and then to the Air
Forces Office of Scientific Research.By the time you and I get the information they
have digested we could well be riding in a U.F.O. rather than proving their exist-
ance.
The recent flurry on the part of representatives of various official U.F.O. resear-
ch bodies to obtain authentic photos with reliable data included, could well be
the result of the "Big Dish" in Puerto Rico picking up those ultra precise and very
mysterious signals from the Milky Way. The Jordel "Big Ear" in Greenbank England
gets them to they've been listening to thom for weeks and weeks -you and I have
just been told about it---
Suggested reading- POPULAR PHOTOGRAPHY March issue I967 A most excellent article
on UFOTOGRAPHY by Dr.Hynek. Pages and pagos on "How to photograph a U.F.O." He con-
cludes the article saying --get that photo.
Dr. Hynek,a badly misquoted researcher, wishes to have a world wide not work of
U.F.O. reports channeled through the U.N. as a clearing house for additional resear-
ch. The apparent urgency and sudden push to obtain conclusive photographs is a now
twist. What happened to the old saw from Bluo Book that they are all in your mind?
If so, how does one photograph someone elso's hallucination, or evon your own for
that matter?
Despite radio announcement to the contrary, Russian rosearch on U.F.O.s is reaching
the desportestage. That commission now has oightoon top flight Russian scientists
including astronomers now actually studying objects through telescopes. Per Dr.
Feliks Zigel, head of the Russian commission, "certain objects studied obviously
could not have been mado by man and are definitely not artifical satellites or
space rockets. The possibility that thoy are quite real and beyond prosent scient-
ific knowledge on Earth certainly is worth the global rosearch ".
Dr. E.McDonald, University of Arizona professor associated with the Institute of
Atmospheric Physics, in a recent speech during the seminar held at United Aircraft
Corp in Hartford ,Conn stated"Current scientific attitudes towards the U.F.O. prob-
lem must be radically alerted. We must stop laughing smugly at 'all those nuts' who
see stop accepting hollow assurances from the official agency that has so
long and so incredibly mishandled the U.F.O. problem. We must stop assuming that the
very idea of our being under extraterrestial survey is so amusingly absurd" Dr
McDonald's opinion of Blue Book, the U.S. official U.F.O. authority is "Zero-point-
zero"
There are thousands of others who share the Dr. feelings.
In certain popular magazines of national distribution there has appeared a rash of
articles and stories of "Mysterious Men in Black" These men according to the articl-
es are sometimes accompanied by a red-headed women. The project of these mysterious
people is to thwart the well meaning efforts of U.F.O. witnesses that have publicaly
announced their sighting. According to the stories, threats of physical abuse, etc.,
are made and any photo negatives of U.F.O.s taken and not returned, The stories go
on to say these "Men in Black" masquerade as officials of varies high positioned
Government agencies, make personal visits or even use the telephone in an attempt to
"silence" the witness It occurs to me that that it could be nothing but a rumor
that served as good material for an article. Also it could be a orank attempt to
obtain recognition by an individual or small group that stands to lose something
of monetary value by the continuing legitiment research. Fact or fiction which ever
the case it has had no restraining effect on witnesses. I have on occaision been
"tailed" as I drove to a favorite "stako-out" not far from a local air-field here
near Scattle, but,I have yet to be "contacted" by anything or anyone.I would look
forward to such a meeting ---1 picturo of such a "contact" could be worth millions//
