MISC. COMMENTS 1/13/75 Econ speech:
TREATY
GF has lost his personal appeal. It's terrible, he's losing
contact with the people. Loves GF.
Disapprove of speech. It's a political move. He's trying to
beat the Democrats.
12% rebate isn't enough. Cut out foreign aid. There's too
much corruption in foreign aid.
Support. GF spoke to the average American. Cut Congressional
spending.
Good speech and delivery. Raise food prices to OPEC countries.
Moratorium on increases in federal spending is the key. Allo-
cation didn't run well before. There was a bias for the Northern
coast. Look at oil usage on a regional basis.
Liked the format; thinks GF is great.
100% behind GF.
Compliments to GF.
Wonderful.
Displeasure with the program. It's causing a deliberate oil
shortage.
God be with you, Mr. Pres.
Very good speech.
Appreciate what the Pres. is doing and it will undoubtedly help.
In favor of GF. Disgusted with the 3 networks negative analysis.
They plant more fear and doubt in peoples' minds than do
supermarket prices.
Support wholeheartedly. Refreshing to hear GF come out with a
positive and firm approach. Tremendous. GF's got his fingers
on the problem. Hang in there!
The PR men overworked GF. He had too many hand movements and
was programmed. Like GF personally.
Get GF off the air.
Not completely happy with what GF said. Desertion on his part
on inflation battle. We must have price controls for a temporary
period.
Thrilled with the speech. We all need it. Absolutely happy to
hear the words GF mentioned.

*Due to the RSVP calls to the Comment Office this week concerning
the SOTU briefings, the number of comment calls were reduced
tremendously. Whereas those individuals who had to reach the
office to RSVP continued to place calls until they could get
through to the office, people calling to comment would not and
did not persist in getting through to the office to comment.

It's unjust for the military to require haircuts and to penalize
the men if they don't cut there hair according to regulations.
Protest extra weight limitation on trucks.
It's disheartening to have GF appoint a liberal Democrat to
be Atty Gen.
Opposed to raising the price of food stamps.
Against Butz spending $150,000 on an extravagant dining room
at USDA.
Opposed to investigating the CIA. Investigate criminals the not
the investigator. I dislike big parties at taxpayers expense.
Object to maritime bill.
Am personally shocked at disclosure of domestic activities of
CIA. Recall Helms as Ambassador to Iran.

Protest GF's investigation of the CIA.
Give renters a tax break.
GF's panel to investigate the CIA is a good idea, but I object
to the 8 people asked to do the investigating. Most of them have
been involved with the CIA. We need a more bi-partisan group.
Opposed to intervention in the Middle East.
We want Arab friendship but not Jewish friendship.
Shocked at GF's statement. Opposed to military action against
Arab nations.
Doesn't think much of GF as Pres. since recession is in worse
straits.

Inflation is due to banks raising interest rate on deposits
and not loans. GF has to cut down on certificates of deposit.
Please fight against abortion. How long do you think God is
going to let the US stand by murdering his precious new-borns?
Urge GF not to allow the communists to crucify our allies in
S. Vietnam.
To help the economy, I suggest giving $1,000 bonus to WWII vets
and Vietnam vets.
If GF gets US involved in Vietnam again, go full steam ahead
and don't back off.

COMMENT OFFICE NOTES: January 9, 1975
Caller concerned Agnew is selling coal to Japan.
Man from Michigan said he and many others don't want to pay
more taxes but are for a tax increase if it's needed. The US
people are tough and are willing to accept hard times if need be.
Danville, Ind. man said he and many others think GF is doing a
good job. The polls may show displeasure with GF, but they don't
really echo the public sentiment. Wishes GF best of luck.
Disapproval of Hill appropriating funds for S. Vietnam.
Object to providing aid to S. Vietnam. Charity begins at home.
GF shouldn't have pardoned Nixon. Sirica showed more courage
than GF.
Why is the US selling the Arabs jet planes? Against such action.
Opposed to sending aid to Vietnam. Let them settle their own
internal differences.
Opposed to removal of Butterfield at FAA.

COMMENT OFFICE NOTES: January 10, 1975
Against aid for S. Vietnam. Concentrate on getting the US out
of a recession.
Against any aid for S. Vietnam. US can't interfere again.
God bless the US. Don't lose SE Asia and S. America. US has a
very soft attitude and gives the communists everything they
want.
Consider lowering the social security age to 60 to relieve
unemployment problem and give the jobs to the young. (From a
man on social security.)
Unalterably opposed to further expenditures in Vietnam.
US is nuts if it sends aid to S. Vietnam!!!
If we don't give S. Vietnam support, SE Asia will fall to the
communists. Keep the communists out!!! Concerned about the
economy also. Wishes GF a Happy New Year. (Vietnam vet)
Get Simon out; he's a Nixon holdover. God bless GF.
Against higher prices in military commissaries. Against embassy
personnel being able to use the commissary and receiving mil.
medical care.
Approve of income tax rebate.
Very much in favor of income tax rebate!!
Against USG giving tax rebate in check form. USG should instead
give investment credit for major purchases of $500.
It's immoral for the US to support Israel. The possibility of
the US invading the Arabs is terrible.
