THE WHITE HOUSE
WASHINGTON
Model United Nations sessions offer participants a
valuable lesson in practical international politics.
You who take part will learn that there are many
different points of view on any given subject. These
views must be reconciled. And this must be done
in a climate of cordial negotiation within existing
rules of procedures.
Your experience will teach you the need for com-
promise in order to obtain support for your objec-
tives. You will be called upon to exercise the art
of give and take without losing sight of principles.
And, above all, you will learn that there are no
easy answers to the enormous problems facing the
international community.
Whatever you do in the future, the knowledge you
will acquire through these discussions will surely
serve you well in your relationships with other
people. I wish you every success.
