THE WHITE HOUSE
WASHINGTON
National Newspaper Carrier Day, 1974
The hard-working young people who carry the
news of the world to our doorsteps represent
the finest spirit of America. It is most appro-
priate that we set aside a special day each year
to salute them.
Through the sense of dedication and responsi-
bility they develop along the newspaper route,
these youngsters are better able to achieve
success and personal fulfillment in their later
lives.
Countless national leaders, both in the private
and public sector, look back with pride and
satisfaction on their experience as newspaper
carriers. And communities across America
are stronger because of the qualities these
young people derive from this fine occupation.
On behalf of all my fellow citizens, I commend
America's newspaper carriers on this merited
national observance.
