THE WHITE HOUSE
WASHINGTON
Secretaries Week, 1976
My many years in public life have taught me that
there is one service that can never be over-
estimated -- and that is the work of the secretary.
The dedication to duty, painstaking accuracy and
professional skills of America's secretaries are
more often than not the behind-the-scenes quali-
ties that ensure success both for business and
government.
It is most appropriate therefore that we set aside
a special week to honor those who have chosen this
much-needed and appreciated career and to com-
mend the devotion, loyalty and high standards they
apply to their daily work.
I know that I am joined by grateful citizens across
our country in saying thank you to America's
secretaries for their vital role in our national life.
Herald R. Ford
