MR. CHANCELLOR, DISTINGUISHED GUESTS.
OVER THE YEARS, THE WHITE HOUSE HAS WELCOMED MANY
TALENTED PERFORMERS -- SINGERS, DANCERS, ACTORS, MUSICIANS --
REPRESENTATIVES OF THE WHOLE SPECTRUM OF THE PERFORMING ARTS.

TONIGHT, WE ARE ESPECIALLY FORTUNATE BECAUSE OUR
GUEST ARTIST COMBINES ALL OF THESE SKILLS, AS THOSE OF YOU KNOW
WHO HAVE SEEN HIM IN FILMS, ON BROADWAY, IN NIGHTCLUBS, AND
ON TELEVISION.

HE HAS PERSONALLY REQUESTED THAT WE KEEP THE
INTRODUCTION TO A MINIMUM so I WILL ONLY SAY THAT, IN EACH OF
THE MANY AND VARIED ROLES HE HAS PLAYED, HE HAS BROUGHT THAT
VERY SPECIAL SKILL, ENTHUSIASM AND ELECTRIC QUALITY THAT
SEPARATES THE GREAT FROM THE GOOD.
