the Southwest Gate. You will greet Mrs. Miki
in front of the entrance to the Diplomatic
Reception Room.
NOTE: There will be press photo coverage of
the greeting.
3:05 p.m.
You will escort your guests to the Second Floor
via elevator.
You will have tea with your guests in the West
Hall.
NOTE: There will be a small photo pool present.
After the tea, you may wish to give your guests
a tour of the Family Quarters.
3:30 p.m.
You will escort your guests to the Diplomatic
Reception Room and bid farewell.

Additional Information on Those
Accompanying Mrs. Miki to your Tea
at 3:00 p. m., August 6
Following are brief comments on some of the ladies who, together
with Mrs. Miki, will be attending your tea on August 6.
Mrs. Sueko Yasukawa, wife of the Japanese Ambassador, is regarded
as an accomplished pianist and a good bridge player. The Yasukawas
have three children; two teenage daughters in the U.S., and a son
studying journalism in Japan. Mrs. Yasukawa is 50 years old
and speaks English well.
Mrs. Ei Mori, wife of Mrs. Miki's youngest brother, also acts
as Mrs. Miki's personal secretary. She has travelled extensively
overseas and speaks fluent English. She is 38 years old. She is
fond of pets, particularly dogs.
Mrs. Eleanor Ingersoll, wife of the Deputy Secretary of State, has
been married to Robert S. Ingersoll for 37 years. She spent two
years in Japan (1971 - 1973) when her husband was the American
Ambassador there. Her interests include hospital volunteer work,
gardening, golf, tennis, needlework, symphony concerts, and her
eight grandchildren. She and her four daughters are graduates of
Smith College. She is 60 years old, and grew up in Chicago.
Mrs. Maria Hodgson, wife of the American Ambassador to Japan,
is herself a specialist in the treatment of reading disabilities. She
shares her husband's interest in Asia, and last December represented
the U.S. in the Ikebana "International Friendship through Flowers"
Display. The Hodgsons have two children: a married daughter in
Boulder, Colorado, and a son at UCLA.
