Dear Mr. Maduro:
On September 17, 1976, at 7:30 p.m., at the Sheraton Park Plaza Hotel
in New Haven, Connecticut, Community Progress, Incorporated will sponsor
its First Annual Community Service Banquet.
Community Progress, Incorporated (CPI) is the first anti-poverty
agency in the nation, having been founded in 1962. It was the first
agency to receive a grant from the Office of Economic Opportunity in 1964.
The purpose of this Banquet will be to bring together religious,
political, civic, and business leaders in order to reaffirm our commitment
to serving the needs of the disadvantaged. We are pleased that Rev. Martin
Luther King, Sr. has agreed to be the guest speaker at this dinner.
On behalf of the New Haven community I cordially invite you to join us
at this important banquet.
If you will be able to attend, or have any questions, please contact
me as soon as possible.
Most sincerely yours,
Edward White
