Digitized from Box 6 of the White House Press Releases at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library DECEMBER 22, 1974 PCOL REPORT Pool report from bottom of chairlift number 1 as the President began skiing. The President arrived about 2 p.m. accompanied by several Secret Service men on skis. The President also was on skis. They walked on the skis from the Bass house to the bottom of the lift where the President waded into a crowd of about 100 persons. He wore a bright orange parka, dark stretch pants, red boots and orange and white stocking cap. He appeared to be in excellent spirits. The lift took off suddenly and he almost lost his balance, but he regained his balance, waved and soon disappeared into the mist and snow. A Secret Service agent accompanied the President on the lift otherwise the Secret Service was inconspicuous. "It's great to be out here," Mr. Ford said before boarding the chairlift. The President was relaxed, seemed to handle himself well and comfortably on the sk.s as he walked or skated over from the Bass house. Kilpatrick and Compton # # #
