Ford Presidential Library\nFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE\nFEBRUARY 14, 1975\nOffice of the White House Press Secretary\nTHE WHITE HOUSE\nThe President today announced the appointment of Stephen S. Gardner,\nof Pennsylvania, to be a member of the President's Commission on\nPersonnel Interchange for a term of two years. He succeds William\nE. Simon who resigned effective,January 25, 1975.\nMr. Gardner was Chairman of the Board of the Girard Trust Bank\nin Philadelphia from 1971 to 1974. He served as President of the\nGirard Trust Bank from 1966 to 1971. He is the Chairman of the\nGreater Philadelphia Movement, Director of the Philadelphia\nOrchestra Association, the YMCA Foundation, and the Philadelphia\nCollege of Art. In addition, he is a member of the World\nAffairs Council and the Philadelphia Club.\nHe was born on December 26, 1921, in Wakefield Massachusetts.\nHe was educated at Boston University, Harvard College, and received\nhis MBA from Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration\nin 1949. He is married and has five children.\nThe Commission was established by Executive Order 11451 of January\n19, 1969, to develop an executive interchange program under which\npromising young executives from the Federal departments and\nagencies and the private sector will be selected and placed in positions\noffering challenge and responsibility in the other sector.\n#\n#\n#"
