NOTICE TO THE PRESS
Listed below is the information and list of the members of the wheelchair
basketball team from Brazil who will be on the South Lawn when the
President departs for Norfolk, Va.:
Background: The Partners of the Americas of which you are
honorary chairman, in cooperation with the National Wheelchair
Basketball Association, are engaged in a "Rehabilitation Through
Sports" program. In September, 1974, an American wheelchair
basketball team conducted clinics in rehabilitation and played five
exhibition games in Brasilia and Rio de Janerio. This return trip
for the Brazilian team includes five games in Maryland, Virginia
and the District of Columbia, as well as a tour of the Capitol and
various receptions. Accompanying the Brazilian team will be various
officials of Partners of the Americas.
