Ford Presidential Library FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE JUNE 12, 1975 Office of the White House Press Secretary THE WHITE HOUSE The President today announced the appointment of Douglas P. Bennett, of Bethesda, Maryland, as Director of the Presidential Personnel Office. He succeeds William Walker who was appointed on June 10, 1975, as Deputy Special Representative for Trade Negotiations. Since January 1975, Mr. Bennett has been Special Assistant for Legis- lative Affairs at the White House serving as liaison with the House of Representatives. Prior to joining the White House staff, Mr. Bennett served as Special Assistant for Tax Folicy in Legislative Affairs for the Department of Treasury. From 1972 to 1974 he was Manager, Legis- lative Relations for the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company. He served as Legislative Assistant to Congressman Alexander Prinie (R-N.Y.) from 1969 to 1972. He was an officer in the United States Army from 1964 to 1969. Mr. Bennett was born on February 24, 1942 in White Plains, New York, He received his B.S. degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1964. He was awarded an M.B.A. degree cum laude from American University in 1971. He attended George Washington University Law Center and received his J.D. degree in January 1975. Mr. Eennett is married to the former Sandra Benedikt and they have two children. They reside in Bethesda, Maryland. # # #
