Ford Presidential Library\nFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE\nJUNE 12, 1975\nOffice of the White House Press Secretary\nTHE WHITE HOUSE\nThe President today announced the appointment of Douglas P. Bennett,\nof Bethesda, Maryland, as Director of the Presidential Personnel\nOffice. He succeeds William Walker who was appointed on June 10,\n1975, as Deputy Special Representative for Trade Negotiations.\nSince January 1975, Mr. Bennett has been Special Assistant for Legis-\nlative Affairs at the White House serving as liaison with the House of\nRepresentatives. Prior to joining the White House staff, Mr. Bennett\nserved as Special Assistant for Tax Folicy in Legislative Affairs for\nthe Department of Treasury. From 1972 to 1974 he was Manager, Legis-\nlative Relations for the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company. He served\nas Legislative Assistant to Congressman Alexander Prinie (R-N.Y.)\nfrom 1969 to 1972. He was an officer in the United States Army from\n1964 to 1969.\nMr. Bennett was born on February 24, 1942 in White Plains, New York,\nHe received his B.S. degree from the United States Military Academy\nat West Point in 1964. He was awarded an M.B.A. degree cum laude\nfrom American University in 1971. He attended George Washington\nUniversity Law Center and received his J.D. degree in January 1975.\nMr. Eennett is married to the former Sandra Benedikt and they have\ntwo children. They reside in Bethesda, Maryland.\n#\n#\n#"
