POOL REPORT: Barksdale afb white house to dinner party to
NATL 6AF*/ GUARD BALL
President wearing tuxedo and ruffled abdut emerged from the
has tily refurbished Barksdale AFB white house and waved to
families on the block. During the 25 minute ride to "Dalwoods"
the estate of Dalton Wood, there were crowds gathered at intersections
at intervals along the way with welcome signs, and flags
all waving with enthusiasm.
"Dalwoods, approximately the size of a small Framada inn
is set back in a planted pine forest surrounded y a white
house type iron fence. Three piece combo played outside,
buffet tables on the lawn with red white and blue carnation
centerpieces. Guests had been held at buses LSU (Shreveport
Campus) and were and BUSSED IN, to party site after president
a.rrived. The pool from 1.18 confired vantage point m a roped off
corral, Weastone assume you had his remarks p iped in.
We would only note that as the guests gathered around
the portico, the Presid' ent carried away with the Southern
setting said , "Its so nice to see Y'all". This as the
crowd laughed appreciatevly and the prez responded, "I'm
practicing..
There was then another uneventful motorcade to a convetnion
hall with more crowds waving at intersections. Pool estimates
approx 1000 guests at a Louisiana National Guard Ball where the
President mingled and spoke briefly. (We assume you had remarks
p_iped in; nothing startling). There was more mingling and
warm cheers from men and women standing on chairs
Off to airport where he said goodbye to local police
per ususal and then boarded air force one ignoring a
crowd of about 200 people behind a rope. And with a wave
he was off to Tyler.
