    "ocrText": "Dictated by phone by 40\nMin. 7/25/75 Uorontson p.m,Thure,\nDear Mr. President:\nOn the occasion of the successful accomplishment of the first ever\njoint flight and docking of the Soviet Spaceship Soyuz and the U.S.\nApollo, I am sending you and the people of the United States of\nAmerica, sincere congratulations on behalf of the Soviet people\nand on my personal behalf. Please extend our congratulations and\nbest wishes to courageous U.S. Astronauts Thomas Stafford,\nVance Brand, Donald Slayton, and U.S. scientists, designers,\nspecialists and workers who took part in the preparation for the\nfulfillment of the Soyuz-Apollo program.\nAs a result of the flight of the Soyuz and Apollo Spaceships, their\ndocking in the Earth orbit and mutual crew transfers tested and\npracticed, have been the compatible systems of the Spaceships\ndeveloped for increasing the safety of man's flights into space,\nand also displays the possibility of joint work in space of\nrepresentatives of different countries. Being an important\nmilestone in cooperation between the USSR and the USA in the\nexploration and use of outer space for peaceful purposes, the\naccomplished joint flight lays the foundation for the possible\nsubsequent Soviet-U.S. projects in this field.\nThe success of this outstanding experiment was insured by the\nfaultless fulfillment by the Soviet and U.S. crews of the complex\nflight program. It was the result of close and efficient cooperation\nof scientists and specialists of our countries at all the stages of its\npreparation and fulfillment. The experiment carried out, constitutes\na major scientific technical achievement paving new ways for further\nspace exploration for the good of all mankind.\nThe flight of the Soyuz and Apollo Spaceships is of historic significance\nas a symbol of the current process of easing of international tension\nand improvement of Soviet-U.S. relations on the basis of the principals\nof peaceful coexistence.
