THE PRESIDENT HAS SEEN MARY GEORGE STATE SENATE WINDWARD DISTRICT STATE CAPITOL HONOLULU, hawaii 96813 AH November 10, 1976 The President The White House Washington, D.C. Dear Mr. President: I am so sorry. You expressed so well the way I felt, and worked so hard for the goals I thought were important. You brought us out of the shadows that made us all uncomfortable after Watergate, and gave us the confidence we needed to get the economy moving again. And thousands of us worked very hard with you - and I just plain can't figure out what went wrong! It was a special pleasure to meet Mrs. Ford when she was in Honolulu, and then to meet you again when I was one of Bob Ray's cohorts on the platform committee last August. I don't regret a single minute of the time I put in on the campaign - except that I might have worked longer and harder if I thought it would have made any difference! I will always think of my efforts in behalf of your election as a real privilege.
