THE WHITE HOUSE WASHINGTON March 28, 1905. My dear Sir: I have your letter of the 27th, and in reply would say that the President is so busy at present preparing to leave on his trip that he prefers to have Bishop Derrick write him what it is he wishes to lay before him. Any communication the Bishop may for- ward I shall take ploasure in laying before the Presi- dent. I have communicated with Mr. Scott Smith, Secretary to the Secretary of the Interior and he has promised to place Mrs. Cheeks on the temporary roll of the General Land Office at the first opportunity.
