- 2 - On that day, four live oak trees were symbolicly planted in the memory of former President Truman, former President Eisenhower, former President Johnson and former Senator Richard Russell. I was asked to represent you. Mrs. Eisenhower was there to receive the Certificate honoring her husband, J. B. Fuqua repre- sented Mrs. Johnson and Dr. Russell, brother of Senator Russell, was present. I will send the Certificate to Rose Conway as I thought the Library would be the appropriate place for the Certificate of Appreciation. The Certificate was given by the Augusta Optimist Club and the Georgia Forestry Commission and the inscription on it is as follows: "Certificate of Appreciation Honoring President Harry S. Truman 1884 - 1973 For his expansion of river basin plans and the inclusion of pollution control within the plans to meet the nation's future needs as related to the expansion of watershed improvements, water supply, recreation and fish and wildlife. 11 Although the 1973 date is incorrect, I thought it appropriate to accept the Certificate as prepared.
