HARRY U.S. S. ARCHIVES "NATIONAL RECORDS SERVICE" GOVERNMENT TRUMAN AND LIBRARY
CONFIDENTIAL
Dear Mr. Secretary:
In accordance with the provisions of S. Res. 280
(81st Congress, 2nd Session), this Subcommittee has been
directed to conduct an investigation of the employment of
homosexuals and other moral perverts by agencies of the
Government. In connection with this inquiry, it would be
appreciated if you would arrange to make available to repre-
sentatives of this Subcommittee information from your files
concerning known or suspected homosexuals who are employed
in the Department of Commerce, or who have been dismissed,
or who are otherwise known to the Department.
In addition members of this staff would appreciate
an opportunity to discuss with the proper officials of your
Department the methods employed by your Department with refer-
ence to the investigation and handling of homosexual cases
by your personnel officials.
Your cooperation in this matter will be deeply
appreciated.
