GEN CLAY REQUESTS IMMEDIATE DELIVERY AND ACKNOWLEDGMENT
OF FOLLOWING:
"BRADLEY FROM CLAY. YOUR MSG DIFFICULT. BRITISH
AND FRENCH HAVE ALREADY ORDERED FIGHTER ESCORT. WE MUST
NOT LEAVE THEM ALONE. REQUEST URGENT CONSIDERATION
AND REPLY. FOLLOWING BRITISH ACTION AND SUPPORTING IT,
I HAVE ANNOUNCED THAT UNLESS SOME ASSURANCE was
OBTAINED TONIGHT, I WOULD USE FIGHTER ESCORT TOMORROW.
