THE WHITE HOUSE WASHINGTON March 11, 1946 Dear Mr. Bronston: Mr. Pierrepont has advised us of your activities in the motion picture field and that he has approached you in our behalf to produce a film based on the life of John Paul Jones. The President is interested in this production as it can be used as 8 valuable vehicle for the furtherance of international solidarity and the cause of freedom. Therefore, he expresses his willingness to prepare and voice a forward to this motion picture. It is important, however, that the Premiere of this film support the John Paul Jones Bicentennial Commission activities which are scheduled for June-July, 1947. Upon receipt of your letter of confirmation and intent addressed to the attention of Mr. Pierrepont, we will request the cooperation of the Navy Department in order to place at your disposal the necessary facilities to further you in making a successful picture. Please advise Mr. Pierrepont of your planned action on this matter as soon as possible and trusting that we may look forward to your undertaking this production, I am sincerely HARRI A.
