Minutes of the Executive Committee Meeting Committee for the Marshall Plan January 8, 1947 Present: Hon. Herbert H. Lehman, Presiding Chairman Clark M. Eichelberger Philip D. Reed Frederick C. McKee Hugh Moore Frank Altschul Herbert B. Swope Harry Read (alternate for J. Lovestone (alternate for James B. Carey) David Dubinsky) Staff: John H. Ferguson, Melvin J. Fox, Harold Stein, Harold Oram, George Eberhardt, Mrs. Ruth B. Lipper, Mrs. Pauline Mandigo, Mrs. Betty Dowd. The meeting was called to order shortly after 4:30 o'clock by Gov. Herbert H. Lehman, Presiding Chairman, in room 4416 of the Empire State Building. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Treasurer's Report: The Treasurer reported that the financial status as of December 31, 1947 was as follows: Receipts $80,306.50 * N.Y.Office Expenditures $34,493.33 Wash. " " 5,720.69 40,214.02 Balance $40,092.48 * Includes $1,560 for luncheon reservations. Campaign Director's Report: Finance Receipts from: General Public $73,000.00 Advertising 6,000.00 Since 1/2/48 5,400.00 Total $84,400.00 Mr. Oram stated that about $39,000 has been contributed by Council Members. He also reported that the luncheon on December 18th brought in about $2,500, and that income from advertising to date has not quite covered expenses. He also noted that the largest single contribution to date was $2,000. Mr. Ferguson said that a public notarized report will be ready by January 9, 1948. Mr. Oram reported that at the present time we are mailing out 100,000 let- ters over Mr. Patterson's signature, which should bring in the bulk of January funds. Included in this mailing is a copy of Mr. Stimson's article HART NARA UBRAPY
