HARY TRUMAN NARA LIBRA
It was announced that the date for the proposed conference in Washington is
now set for March 5th. Secretary Marshall has been secured for that date.
The program is tentatively planned for the day and will consist of a panel
of people in the morning on various phases of the Marshall Plan, followed by
lunch, and a Congressional session in the afternoon. Mrs. Bell thinks she
can arrange it so that the Congressmen will invite our conferees up to the
Hill.
Mr. Hiss asked what the situation is at the present time with respect to
the Advertising Council. Mr. Ferguson stated he has talked with Mr. Evans
Clark who is not very hopeful that anything can be done. He has also tried
to see Mr. Mortimer. Mr. Hiss said he dined with Mr. Clark recently and
Mr. Clark seems to feel that something can be worked out for a few thousand
dollars. Mr. Clark would like to meet with Mr. Mortimer and Mr. Ferguson
and discuss the matter. They can do nothing without authority from their
Advisory Committee, but as far as the program and cost is concerned he is
optimistic.
There being no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned.
