Dear Mrs. Kozlowski:
The official records of the Department of
Defense which I have just seen tell me of the
death of your son, Corporal Stephen F. Kozlowski.
May I send you my deep sympathy. Mrs.
Saltonstall and I lost our son Peter in World
War II. We have from that sad experience some
knowledge of your deep sense of loss. There is
nothing that I can say to lessen your sadness,
but I do want you to feel how proud we all are
of the efforts of your son in behalf of our own
security. He has died in a glorious cause--the
cause of freedom for those who follow.
With deep sympathy and understanding, I am
Very sincerely yours,
The
Leverett Saltonstall
