A BILL
To provide means of further securing and pro-
tecting the civil rights of persons within the
jursidiction of the United States.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of
the United States of America in Congress assembled,
That this Act, divided into Titles and Parts according to
the following table of contents may be cited as the "Civil Rights
Act of 1948".
TABLE OF CONTENTS
TITLE I -- PROVISIONS TO STRENGTHEN THE FEDERAL
GOVERNMENT MACHINERY FOR THE PROTECTION OF CIVIL RIGHTS.
Part 1 -- Establishment of a Commission on Civil
Rights in the Executive Branch of the Government.
Part 2 -- Reorganization of Civil Rights Activities
of the Department of Justice.
Part 3 -- Creation of a Joint Congressional Com-
mittee on Civil Rights.
