    "ocrText": "and\nRECORDS\nOFFICER\n1003\nMarch 30, 1949\nCongressman King of California called this afternoon to\nspeak to the Secretary. In the Secretary's absence, he spoke\nwith me.\nMr. King indicated that he had been appointed by the\nCalifornia Delegation to chair a sub-committee which is\ninvestigating the present quota restrictions on United States\nmotion pictures in England. Mr. King said that Mr. Webb was\nseeing Mr. Eric Johnston tomorrow on this matter and that he\nhoped to have a word with Mr. Acheson after Mr. Webb had\nseen Mr. Johnston. He mentioned the fossibility of a large\ngroup of the California Delegation meeting to see Mr. Acheson\nlater on the problem, but wanted initially an appointment for\nhimself alone.\nI told Congressman King that the Secretary's calendar was\nextremely full for the next several days and asked if the matter\ncould wait until next week. He said that would be satisfactory\nand 1 agreed to try to set up an appointment about Wednesday\nof next week. I promised to call him back within the next day\nor two and confirm the appointment. I also agreed to let Mr. Webb\nknow of Congressman King's interest in the matter.\nLDBattle\nS:LDB:DHM"
