Before dinner General\nBradley read a memorandum prepared by General MacArthur\nin which he emphasized his Views about the importance of\ndenying Formosa to the Communists.\nAfter dinner the discussion began around the table. The\nPresident called on the Secretary of State to open the\ndiscussion.\nMR. ACHESON summarized the various problems which he\nthought the President should consider. The first point was\nthe question of authorizing General MacArthur to supply\nKorea with arms and other equipment over and above the\nsupplies of ammunition presently authorized under the MDAP\nprogram. He recommended that this be done. He suggested\nthat our air cover should be used to aid in the evacuation\nof the women and children from Seoul and that our air force\nshould be authorized to knock out northern Korean tanks\nor airforce interfering with the evacuation. He then\nmentioned the resolution adopted by the Security Council\nand suggested that consideration should be given to what\nfurther\nDSCLASSIFIED\nL.
