MEMORANDUM OF TELEPHONE CONVERSATION
Participants: Secretary of the Army Pace
SERVICH AND
Mr. Acheson
Secretary Pace telephoned and raised some points
about time of departures on the trip to Brussels, and
discussed certain problems in relation to the forthcoming
meetings.
The points he raised as to time on departure are as
follows:
1. He thought it imperative that he be in Brussels
Sunday morning and was planning to leave Saturday night.
2. He asked whether there was any possibility that
Secretary Acheson could and would want to go then. The
Secretary said he had not discussed that early a departure.
He had planned to leave in the Independence at noon Sunday.
3. Mr. Pace asked whether without advance announcement
McCloy, Bruce and Spofford could be in Brussels on Sunday.
and
4. Pace would like to meet with the Secretary/ General
Collins after Admiral Sherman's return (Thursday morning).
Mr. Pace suggested that the best time would be on Friday
morning.
5. Mr. Pace suggested that there might be someone in
the meantime that the Secretary would want him to talk with.
