CONVERSATION WITH THE PRESIDENT
Item 4. Prime Minister Pleven's Visit
I left with the President the memorandum and the
various papers, telling him that we would have a briefing
paper for him within a very short time.
In regard to the dinner at the French Embassy, I
expla ined the situation to the President, and also to
Mrs. Truman who arrived to go to lunch with the President
while we were discussing it. We then inquired whether
Mrs. Truman would like to go to the dinner and upon her
saying that she would like to very much, the President
requested me to indicate that a dinner with ladies present
would be most agreeable to him.
