MEMORANDUM FOR S/S
Mr. Bill Boyle, Chairman of the Democratic National
Committee, called Mr. Acheson today and told him that the
Democratic National Committee meeting would be held in
Denver on May 25. Preceding this meeting on May 23 and 24
there will be a regional meeting at which representatives of
twenty-four states will be present. Mr. Boyle invited
Mr. Acheson to come out and address the regional meeting
on the 23rd or 24th. He did not specify which of these
dates was desirable nor did he make any reference to time
of day, etc. He mentioned that there would be other members
of the Cabinet out there at that time.
The Secretary said it was difficult for him to predict
at
the moment what he would be doing at that time since it
was not clear how the current Deputies Meeting in Paris would
develop. Mr. Boyle said he appreciated that, but wanted to let
the Secretary know of the Committee's interest in having
him. The Secretary said he would try to give Mr. Boyle an
answer as soon as possible.
May I have a recommendation on this?
