During the course of a conversation with the
British Ambassador on other matters, the Secretary
referred to Mr. Morrison's letter to him about
their meetings in September and said that we were
discussing the Egyptian problem in the State Depart-
ment and with the military, and that we would be
prepared to talk about the matter with the British.
