He will continue, until contrary word is received from the Queeen Mary to plan on a Blair House luncheon on Saturday, January 5. (If, by any chance, Mr. Churchill should get down here Friday night, the President would be prepared for a meeting Saturday morning.) He does not propose to have a meeting Saturday afternoon. He will take a party late Saturday afternoon off on the Williamsburg for dinner and a cruise. He has approved the following list of twelve for the dinner and the cruise. Mr. Churchill The President Mr. Eden Secretary Acheson Lord Cherwell Secretary Lovett Lord Ismay Secretary Snyder Sir Oliver Franks Mr. Harriman Ambassador Gifford General Bradley Mr. Connelly was under the impression that Mr. Churchill would wish Mr. Norman Brook to be included. This would make thirteen. He told Mr. Connelly not to include Mr. Brook. Sunday. The President will not be available at all on Sunday. The President approves Mr. Lovett's luncheon for Sunday and a possible dinner at the Embassy at which Mr. Lovett, General Bradley, and I might meet with Mr. Churchill, as Sir Oliver suggested. In this connection, Mr. Lovett had suggested shifting his luncheon to Monday, so that if a Saturday luncheon was not possible, the President might have a Sunday luncheon. The President does not wish to do this. We should be clear that ve are straight on this with Mr. Lovett. (N.B. The Secretary has done this himself. See memo of his 12/31/51 with Mr. Lovett.
